Simply the best AM3 board

Pros: Have had this board long enough to play a round a bit and see what it can do. Regardless of what other reviewers have stated this board works very well in a RAID configuration with optical drives. I had three 74Gb Raptors laying around so I set it up in a RAID array and also have two Asus DVD-RW and it all works very well. This board is really set up for those who like to tinker as the BIOS allows you to change around just about anything. Another nice touch is being able to save (in the BIOS) different settings through the use of profiles. I like the little multi-color on-board LED's that tell me at a glance whether I am normal, advanced, or crazy in my application of voltages. It appears I am mostly crazy according to Asus. Conversely you can also set up the lights to be off as well. The BIOS application that lets you see the up time on your board is really nice and the CD is loaded with useful software. This board is cheap at $200! Get it before they raise the price.
Cons: Only five (5) SATA ports on the board. However, there is an ESATA connection on the back panel so technically you do have six (6) SATA ports available. If you wanted to avail yourself of the FireWire port you could add on more drives as well.
Overall Review: I bought another brand (2 months ago) because Asus didn't have a decent AM 3 board when the 720 X3's came up for sale. Pulled the other board and now have it up for sale. A decent board with a good BIOS can make a bigger difference than a good board with a so-so BIOS. Asus really went out of their way on this BIOS.
Not quite there yet...

Pros: AM3 board with DDR3 memory to up the possibility of better OC's. Has only two PCI Express slots (who needs more than 2 good cards?) and they are situated so that the SATA ports do conflict like other boards do. The SATA slots all point 90* to the board for easy connections. Was able to boot into the BIOS at 4.1 Ghz. Could boot to Windows at 3.9 Ghz, but stable only about 3.4 Ghz with a X3 720 Black label no matter how much power I ran through the CPU.
Cons: The BIOS is just not quite there yet. Please remember to hook up a PS2 keyboard or your going to have some real problems. USB keyboards are not a good idea with this board even after several BIOS revisions. :( Bad BIOS's make for an unpleasant experience...
Overall Review: The reason I choose this board was because I was an early adopter when there were very few boards available. I think now I would buy one of those "other" brands if I decide to ditch this one.
A best buy

Pros: Very solid and well made hard drive. It's a 5 year no nonsense warranty. Much cooler and quieter than my Raptor's.
Cons: Can't think of any and I have been buying WD drives for over 20 years now.
Overall Review: Not as fast as a Raptor, but the price is right!
The bomb!

Pros: You get Vista 32 bit Ultimate + Windows RC1 + Windows 7 Ultimate. That's lots of OS for what you will pay for just one of them a few months from now.
Cons: Also have the Vista 64 bit Ultimate and it is way faster, but is not easy to interface to a Palm Treo and other hardware due to lack of 64 bit drivers. Conversely there are lots of drivers for the 32 bit software.
Overall Review: Do it now or you will regret this deal come the end of October.
Very well made

Pros: This is a very well engineered and made HD case. Nice black anodizing on outside and coated steel for internal parts. The fan works excellent and is very quiet. I tested the air flow by lighting a match and watching to see if the flame flickered at the back and front of the case. It doesn't take much airflow to cool off the drive and the circuit board side is what needs cooling. Works great!
Cons: Instructions mention sliding out the side panels. Took me a while to realize that they don't slide out the back, but actually pull out to the side.
Overall Review: Doesn't come with any rubber feet, but since it appears to be designed to sit on the side that's no big deal. If you want to lay it flat then you will want to visit the electronic store and invest a couple of dollars for some rubber stick on bumpers.
Inexpensive and it works!

Pros: Works very well for loading up drivers when installing OS's and making the occasional boot/emergency disk. Packaging is very good, comes with mini-cd for drivers and instructions if you need them. Looks good and appears well made.
Cons: No free shipping?
