Nice to find one of these
Pros: It worked, and brought an old dead computer back to life.
Cons: Ummmm its really old out dated technology, but then again it is awesome that someone is making these things still.
Overall Review: I normally wouldn't waste my time with such an old computer, but the p.c. this power supply went into runs a very expensive piece of equipment. The equipment is controlled by a legacy ISA card. Upgrading the equipment to work with USB was $20 K.
Fine for a while
Pros: This motherboard has two IDE slots which is good if you're trying to rehab an older system.
Cons: After adding a relatively low power consumption Nvidia 7300 gt pci express graphics card the board died. I explained this in my RMA. Other people have complained of the exact same thing on other online forums.
Overall Review: After I removed the board I could not see any burnt chips or signs of arcing or shorting with the chasis. The board wouldn't post or even beep or spin up the fans or anything....Just complete silence. Re-arranging the components/disconecting them availed nothing. Bios reset/ Battery removal availed nothing....Just silence. Hopefully the replacement board will not have this problem. I will be running it with onboard graphics, so hopefully this wont become an issue again.
Office space, paperjam, PC Load letter
Pros: runs cool apps. takes good photos and video. sound quality and call quality is good.
Cons: wont connect to wifi most of the time. sometimes when it does connect to wifi it wont get on the internet. I have done all the tricks, I have changed all the settings. WIFI still comes and goes as it chooses. Latest problem is 4 bars of signal, but cant make calls or get on the internet even through 4G. Cant get texts either untill it restart the phone. Works for 30 min then does it again.
Good replacement
Pros: Runs my rig just fine so far. The 750 is not the peak wattage, but the nominal wattage.
Cons: Doesn't clean itself. Man I hate dust!
Overall Review: Running an older power hungry Socket 939 system. Fx 55 with Asus A8n 32 sli deluxe Asus 9600 gso 4 gigs of ram xp 64 bit all air cooled
Small but fast
Pros: Improved the speed of a Compaq presario laptop. OS loading times decreased significantly over OEM hard drive. Didnt cost that much. Had no problem droping it in place of the other hard drive, i.e. same dimensions and fittings.
Cons: Can't think of any.
Overall Review: Previous hard drive was dying. It had an 8 meg cache and 5400 rpm, so upgrading to 16 meg cache and 7200 rpm was a very noticeable improvement.
Convenient
Pros: Makes it easier to work on clients computers. Back ups and data manipulation are easier with this little gem.
Cons: Runs hot in SATA mode. Certain types of partition copying software wont recognize all the drive properties when plugged into USB.
Overall Review: USB mode doesn't heat up the hard drive. The above complaints could be due to the settings on my mother board, but to determine that more experimentation is necessary.
