Best Headset I've Owned

HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC / PS4 / Mac / Mobile - Gun Metal
HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC / PS4 / Mac / Mobile - Gun Metal

Pros: -Inexpensive -Great sound quality (no, you won't impress any audiophiles but for gaming, movies, music it will do just fine) -Great mic quality -Detachable mic, if you want to use a different one -Comfortable -Adjustable -7.1 Surround -Aesthetically pleasing -Detachable cable AT the inline sound card - you can take it off and stick it in a phone and it will just work

Cons: -Color selection is limited. This isn't really an issue for me as I probably would have gone with gun metal regardless, but a friend of mine really would have liked a white option (like the original Cloud had), and although red is HyperX's color, I do think it would look nice in some other color choices. -??? I really can't think of any other complaints than that

Overall Review: Packaging is awesome. Also comes with an airplane adapter, if you're in to that sort of thing. Just by way of comparison, I bought a Razer Tiamat 7.1 for ~$180 USD. I bought this for $100. The Cloud II's blow the Tiamat out of the water in every possible regard. They sound WAY better, the surround is actually existent, the mic is significantly better, the whole thing's construction is WAY more durable, and it costs less. If you need a headset, buy this one.

Good for a while, then breaks

Razer Tiamat 7.1 Surround Sound Over Ear PC Gaming Headset
Razer Tiamat 7.1 Surround Sound Over Ear PC Gaming Headset

Pros: When it works, it works very well. Sound quality is amazing, surround is great, it does everything they say it does, and does it well.

Cons: Breaks after normal use. My microphone no longer stays in front of my face, but rather flops down by my neck, so I have to keep it retracted into the left earpiece. It's not a huge deal as it still picks up my voice well enough. The larger deal is that now there is an obnoxious persistent static in the right side, which temporarily goes away when I tap it. Also, I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but occasionally the whole thing will basically "short out" when the left side comes in contact with the wire (ie: when I turn my head left). I feel like this isn't supposed to happen. Razer customer support is also a joke, but I won't get into that here. I've been a Razer customer over the years and I think this is gonna be it for me, I've had a lot of expensive mice break, now this is broken, I've completely lost faith in the company in general. When, and I say WHEN, my Tiamat dies completely I will not purchase another Razer product.

Overall Review: And no, I did not abuse any Razer product. I admittedly did abuse my headset I owned before getting this one, and for that reason specifically made sure to treat this like my own child, making sure never to slam it down or hit it in frustration. Still has issues.
