Good, but not what I expected...
Pros: It is very clean, works well, not excessively loud. Mine arrived with a clean Lenovo keyboard (but not apparently new), and a cheap iMicro optical mouse that appears brand new. As a USFF computer it is quite compact. COA for Windows 7 Home Premium appears legitimate (have not yet activated mine). Lenovo BIOS and general hardware quality are pretty solid. Came with a DVD multi-player optical drive. Has 8 USB 2.0 ports (2 in the front, 6 in the back). It has an E8400 CPU.
Cons: It is not 'as pictured'. The picture shows a SFF M58P - like the other 3 M58's I have purchased from NewEgg, and expected with this one. The drawbacks for me are So-Dimm memory instead of Dimm, only 2 memory slots, an external 'compatibie' power supply, no e-SATA port on the back of the computer, and the only internal slot is a low profile PCI slot. No PCI-e 1x or 16x as I have come to expect with the SFF form computers.
Overall Review: NewEgg needs to improve their care in the descriptions for these 3rd party refurb computers. The picture should match what they are shipping, or there should not be a photo in the listing. The one I received came labeled as a Certified nUsed Computer, but there was NO warranty or support information inside the packaging. The dilemma for me is I purchased this as a backup for the other 3 Lenovo's I purchased - all of which came as SFF forms which matched their photos and descriptions. This one showed USFF in the description, but the picture was clearly a SFF matching the other 3. So I don't have a power supply, CPU cooler or memory that I could use to keep the other 3 running. The drives (3.5 HD and 5.25 half height optical) would be swappable. And I suspect if i moved a 3.5 HD from one of the SFF computers to this USFF computer, it would boot up cleanly (although would probably need to be re-activated).
Support is apparently gone
Pros: Feels nicely weighted and responsive. Lots of buttons!
Cons: Can not get to EVgo.com today. Appears to be gone. Without driver software to download the buttons may never be useful and the RGB effects un-configurable
Overall Review: Wish I knew EVGA was (has?) disappearing before I bought it !
Decent monitor -but no VGA
Overall Review: Good size, clear screen, though not particularly crisp or special. Disappointed it didnt have VGA - just has DisplayPort and HDMI. And has no audio either. The base does not seem to fully lock in to the monitor ( maybe it requires more force than I am willing to risk ) but it is light and seems plenty stable. I just wont carry it upside down by the base when moving it around between spaces
Concerned about Windows licensing
Pros: Tiny and powerful. Lot of performance for something much more compact than a laptop. Aluminum case seems strong, inside is very neat and accessible for storage ( 2 nvme ssd connections?, one is full length other empty one is much shorter ). Includes hdmi cable and solid power supply. Pretty quiet even when fan is cranking.
Cons: Windows updates wont run. Did a clean install on a different ssd and it claims there is no license key ( normally this would be accessible to a clean install via the BIOS ). The clean install also will not self install driver for the WiFi even though the Ethernet connection works fine. Windows updates work fine on that clean install but since it is not activated it will soon be impractical to use. Clean install also struggled with identifying proper country settings but I was able to select us and English - us . Definitely not silent.
Overall Review: Without a working version of properly licensed / activated Win 11 Pro its not a great deal. But its still cute and impressive performance for something so small
So far, so good -
Pros: -inexpensive -comfortable -decent sound -should be hard to lose, but light and tangle free -easy to pull out of ear(s) and not risk dropping or dangling in the way
Cons: -microphone seems pretty poor, people have struggled to hear me -unknown quantity for life expectancy, or even batter life as I've only played with them for 6 hours or so.
Overall Review: I would recommend these - unless you are dependent on good voice quality. But that's probably true of anything that doesn't keep the microphone much nearer to your mouth.
Very useful and mobile phone setup was decent.
Pros: Compact with useful lights. 5G and 2.4G capable. Easy to grip to plug in and unplug. Looked and operated like it was brand new.
Cons: Phone app setup was a little tedious with required account creation needing email confirmation. Won't provide Gigabit speeds on the Wired connection ( but I did not need that ) Unknown how the setup process will evolve - will it be supported 3 years from now?
Overall Review: I configure / upgrade lots of different computers, and sometimes having a convenient wired internet connection without having to install wireless drivers on the target computer is sweet. And I may have reason to use it as an extender occasionally too :) Setting up the app on the phone was not bad, maybe a little tedious due to the account setup. But once you have that working, using the extender on a different wireless network is not too bad. I think the compact device was an excellent value and is a useful addition to my tool kit.
Good deal, equipment in decent condition...
Ordered 2 refurbished desktops. One came with a defective mouse (short in the cord). A couple rubber feet missing. But computers were relatively clean, and no serious case damage. Would definitely order from them again when a deal presents itself.
