Work great
Pros: Put it in my HP with 8 gigs of ddr3, and intel dual core 2.00 GHZ processor. Works great. 931 GB usable space on it and disk data transfer rate is 5.9 in windows experience index which seems to be about as good as you can get without going to a solid state. I am a mutimedia junkie and a computer repair guy who needs a lot of space on a computer so a solid state HD is out of the question for a laptop that only can take 1 HD (as 99% of laptops).
Cons: none
Overall Review: very happy with it. Would LOVE a laptop with 2 HD capability so I could throw the OS on a SSD and have this for files like on my desktop but I can not complain at all of the performance of Win 7 Ultimate on this drive. 5.9 is nothing to cry about.
Update
Pros: Great board at first, still working for me...
Cons: Problematic. After about 6 months the on-board audio started acting up and making noise in my 7.1 system, I tried fresh O.S. reload, updates, etc.. My old 7.1 card fixed the problem but did not offer speaker fill (which was not an issue with XP when I got the card). Long story short I had to buy a new sound card, a couple of the usb ports on the motherboard do not work now, It is still working for me but it causes headaches from time to time.
Overall Review: Hard to find a new 1155 MB that will fit my needs now but I will stick with this one until I want to upgrade my I5.
I liked it while it lasted...
Pros: Got this on sale for $200, can still use the satellite speakers (which are nice speakers by the way...)
Cons: Lasted less than a year before it started periodically flickering the HDMI output to the TV, did not matter what I had plugged into it, my laptop, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, or PS4 the same thing happens... the audio stays good but the video goes out and might stay out for anywhere from 5 seconds to a full minute. I tried switching the input ports I was using, new HDMI cables, restarting the system, etc... Also having to do all the system settings through the AV was kind of dumb IMO.
Overall Review: My new Yamaha RX-V577 7.2 system will use these satellite speakers nicely with some larger shelf speakers for the front two, and the sub will be useless to me as my new receiver (like most) require an active sub so I will have to purchase one or two active subs for the system. Overall almost a year of flawless use and a few extra months of occasional frustration with a set of speakers that should last a long time I am not too upset about it since I only payed $200, I would be extremely upset if I payed full price for this thing.
Update
Pros: Burned literally hundreds of cds, dvds and dl-dvds and worked nice and fast.
Cons: Started acting up at about 11 months. I swapped sata cables and ports on the motherboard, no good. Replacement working fine.
Overall Review: Can not give too bad of a rating because this is the drive I wanted to burn up instead of the Pioneer bluray burner that cost me 4 times as much at the time. I fix computers and burn discs for a living, to say that I burned 1,000 discs with this drive might not be an exaggeration. I did hope that it would last longer but I am not going to complain too badly, it was a workhorse for almost a year and at times was pumping out discs for hours at a time only breaking long enough to put in another disc. It was definitely worth what I payed for it.
Works
Pros: Small, (also a con in some cases), quiet, works.
Cons: I wouldnt want such a low powered item going in one of my builds but for my customer who checks email and plays spider solitaire it should be just fine.
Great
Pros: I got to keep this because I got it in a combo deal when a customer needed new CPU, motherboard, and ram. It is a great HD and I have ordered these before for customers.
Cons: Non
Overall Review: The case and power supply I got out of the deal were very cheap, but this is what really made it a good deal for me, the customers were an older couple with a bad motherboard and a 250 GB HD that still had over half an empty drive and did not need the upgrade. The drive is great and the combo deal from newegg that allowed me to get it for free is even better! :)
