Good bang for the buck!
Pros: I3. 4GB memory. 500 GB HDD. This laptop runs well for the price point. As for the review form Anonymous about bloatware ALL the mfg. add it to their machines. Go in and uninstall all the bloat and the laptop will run like a champ. It has a better build feel then the one that starts with a D that I bought for my son. In all fairnes his was cheaper and had a dedicated video card. In the end the daughter loves her new laptop!
Cons: Windows 7 support will end sooner than it needs too!
Great at First
Pros: Solid build feel. Screen WAS nice and vibrant. I own a Xoom and bought this as Christmas present for my son. Setting it up and running it constantly to make sure the refurb was good. I didn't want my son to be disappointed on Christmas day! The disappointment didn't happen that day but just a week later! What a shame would have been a great product if not for the..... read on....
Cons: It worked well and charged the first week after Christmas. And yes I ran the battery down and fully recharged it before this time. The following week my son brings me the tablet saying it won't charge. I plug it in and sure enough no charging. I do a little research which I should have done before buying and I find there are tons of issues on charging. I tried everything and even wasted money on another charger. No luck! The only saving grace was the iron egg guarantee. There is a break down somewhere in the refurb process that is unacceptable! My opinion of ASUS products was definitely lowered with this purchase.
Overall Review: I have purchased several ASUS products over the years. I have several motherboards and one that have been chugging along 24/7 for the past 7, yes SEVEN, years. What happened to your products ASUS?
Breathes a lot of fire but all you get are cold coals in the end
Pros: Not really a pro but was a lump of coal from Santa with a free headset. YOU CAN avoid the aggravation I endured but if you enjoy reading about pain then move on to the cons section!
Cons: This software is an absolute nightmare to "install" and causes problems with your windows updates. Read on if you aren't already removing this from your cart..... The story goes "We flash back to last weekend...." I started out on my sons computer ( Windows 7 home 64-bit). (pay attention pivotal story point) Install walks you through the usual then appears to begin the "install". It halts after 10 minutes and states it needs some M$ updates installed (.net framework 4.5). I discover his laptop needs over a hundred updates... hmmm it figures and it's my fault for not keeping his laptop updated so I pay the price of time with M$ updates. Oh the agony. I run some virus scans, do some housekeeping and move on to updates. NOW windows updates hangs on me. Grrrrrrreat another problem. I blame myself. Lots of searching and no joy on a fix so I move on to manually updating. I managed to find some posts about which updates this program needs other than the one stated before (.net). Updates installed, computer restarted, restart the "install" and away we go OR so I thought. It appears to hang when "copying files" and sits there for over an hour. Hmm no I don't have a previous versions installed, updates installed, what the 'beeeeep'. Okay I figure I am paying the price for not keeping his laptop up to date because its always sitting in his room and I am too frightened to enter. (yes its a joke) SOOOOOOOOO I move on to my laptop that is kept up to date, scanned for viruses, etc. (windows 7 home 64-bit) I figure no problems here with the "install" and my son can get to using the program. I check my updates install the important ones and of course I forget about the optional .net framework! Once again the "install" grinds to halt. Hmmm.... I go back to install the update for .net framework and...... 'que the dramatic music' Windows Updates is now non-functional and hangs just like the "install". GRRRRRRR for the love of.... what did i do to deserve this? That's it I've had enough if I could return this garbage software I would but it's non-refundable and non-returnable.
Overall Review: Thanks Nonsense er umm Nuance for taking my hard earned money and delivering what amounts to a coaster for my drinks. SO the tale to this little present has been told. Heed the warning, run, don't walk away, from this "product". You have a better chance of hitting the lottery (look up the odds)! In all seriousness this software was a great waste of time and money for me. You may have better luck but why chance it! I deal with software and computers all day long and its amazing that this one has me stumped on the problems its caused. If I find the mysterious fix I will post it.
Not bad for a budget laptop
Pros: I3 processor. 4gb memory. Dedicated 2gb video card. 500gb HDD. Screen is nice and bright and viewing angle isn't too bad. I have seen much worse. Build quality is ok.
Cons: The back of the screen appears to be metal but isn't. This won't be much of an issue to you if it's spends its time in one spot... BUT if plan on toting it around buy a very well padded laptop bag. If you flex the lid you can see your fingers easily on the LCD. I figured this would be the case with the price point on this particular laptop.
Overall Review: Windows 10 a pro and a con. I still prefer 7 but 10 is growing on me. Be sure to rid the machine of bloatware and find a decent guide on the web to tweak the settings. Windows 10 can be very intrusive if not set up properly.
Top of the Line
Pros: Fast SSD. Samsung software was a breeze when upgrading from a smaller Samsung SSD. Works fine in an Acer Aspire V3-771G-9697 laptop with two drive bays. Fats boot times on a clean install. INto windows within 25 seconds with everything on the drive now.
Cons: None at this time.
High hopes come crashing down
Pros: Worked for 18 months if that's a pro?!?
Cons: Died after 18 months of light use in a notebook. Then the nightmare starts of trying to navigate samsung's website only to find a one roadblock after another. I can't even send an email for this registered drive to ask a question through their website. I have purchased tablets and phones with the samsung brand name and now this problem. I've had to return bad drives before (it happens) but never have I had such a problem just asking a warranty question. When placed as a storage drive instead of a boot drive it still causes the windows install on the boot drive to crash!!!!!
Overall Review: Makes me rethink about buying any more samsung products. If you have an issue you should be able to find answers without jumping through flaming hoops!
