Works fine but not with OEM Mem
Pros: The memory is inexpensive and works fine on its own. NEWEGGS service is so trustworthy and reliable they have become the standard.
Cons: The memory will not work with infinion OEM memory for an ACER Aspire 3502 series notebook PC. I had 256 of OEM in the 1st slot and the PQI gig in the 2nd slot. The laptop locked up within 5 min with both types in. The laptop NEVER locks up with 512 (2x256) of OEM. It never locks up with only the PQI installed.
Overall Review: I only tried the OEM memory in the 1st slot and the PQI in the 2nd slot when using both memory sticks at the same time. I may do a test with the OEM in the 2nd slot and PQI in the 1st slot.
Not Good, Continued
Pros: Respectable company, good product history with me.
Cons: Many, many. This drive just continues to fail. It is my fault I have not replaced it yet. It failed again. Windows functions just stop. USB stopped, access to wireless config didn't work, etc. It is like there are dropout areas or failing areas on the drive.
Overall Review: I have reinstalled this for the last time and am shopping for a new drive. I verified I bought this drive on Newegg in Nov of 2014 and it has been trouble since then. This time, I created an image of the SSD after the last failure and reinstall. I was tired of recovering the MS office key, installing everything, updating etc. So, this time the reinstall went faster. Diskwizard from Seagate/Maxtor works. I made sure to image the whole original (seagate) spinning drive so I had the recovery partition which made recovery easier. Again, I have 2 other working SSD in other laptops that I upgraded and work fine without issue. One of them was a refurb purchase, OCZ brand......no problems with that! I see a lot of issues in reviews here. Mine is actually a 240G model, but they discontinued that model on Newegg so my review rolled to the 120. I am using the drive now, till I can get a new SSD, new brand shipped out. Maybe this is a Lenovo compatibility thing for the seagate product, not sure. Not sure why Newegg dropped this product as it is sold elsewhere.
Works as Expected
Pros: Works perfectly on Comcast.
Cons: This is an 8x4 modem. I did not see a speed increase from it. It is an upgrade from a zyxel BRG35503. Honestly I did not see an improvement. Nothing against the modem, the 8x4 is probably not needed quite yet in my service area.
Overall Review: I am hopeful as Comcast performs service upgrades periodically. No real notice when my oldest cisco modem needed to be upgraded. I went to the zyxel a few years ago and saw a boost. I would say that the speed on the TP Link modem is on par with the zyxel modem. To me that says Comcast has not upgradede the area here for 8 channel bonding.
Our girl loves this phone. The first one failed on an OTA update. Warranty problems with ASUS but Newegg came through and provided a replacement when this happened. I would HIGHLY recommend Newegg a
Pros: Newegg provided a replacement when we had a problem.
Cons: OTA update failure for a terminal reboot with the phone. Newegg got us a new one! So far so good!
Overall Review: After an OTA update from ASUS the phone wouldn't work. Newegg provided a new phone. This is described as a budget or middle function phone but it is really a very good performance phone. It looks like my LG G3. I like it better than my G3 to be honest.
Good Router After ROM Change
Pros: This router is very good with DDWRT running on it. I did not like the simplified ASUS software that is meant for basic settings with most of it left to default. DDWRT allows everything to be tweaked and also has default settings you can rely on. With the other routers I had the WIFI dropped off at 20ft with 2 walls on my older home. I get 12-40mbps now when the best I could get before was 3-12mbps with other routers. If you want, use the stock software as it is simple to set up. The router never stalls nor any dropouts, etc. Most typically I get 20mbs on my Lenovo laptop which has a weak wifi receiver (known Lenovo issue) so that is very good for it.
Cons: Maybe its the DDWRT or the router, dunno, but I have had to install the firmware a few times.
Overall Review: There are other aftermarket firmware to run on this you might like better. I think Tomato, something like wizard, etc. I have had every type of router on the planet and configured them. This one is way up there on the list. I think that you have to spend a few duckets to get a decent router. The 20 something 40 something routers just don't cut it even at refurbished prices. My Roku streaming device runs perfect now with this router but before it was constantly problematic. I got rid of my range extender too. I recommend backing up your DDWRT config and researching the right one for the router before you install it. It is a pain to recover the firmware. Incidentally, ASUS can recover this from DDWRT to ASUS which is how I have redone my 2x. There is ASUS recovery software, then you just put DDWRT on it again. Once I can't remember why I had to reinstall, 2nd time was after a DDWRT upgrade attempt by me.
So far, so good
Pros: Seems to work fine so far in the camera. I have not done a side to side compare on speed.
Cons: none to date
Overall Review: kind of generic brand at deal price
