G.SKILL 4GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL6S-4GBMQ
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Beautifully Logo'd/packaged module (heat spreader). No memory errors, was recognized and started to do it's job. Confident that G-Skill memory products are good.

Cons: Priced rediculously High! I could easily get 8GBs and possibly more for what I paid for this 1 module compared to DDR3 memory (even from NewEgg). But I don't have a DDR3 MB.

Other Thoughts: I have an older Asus M3A78-EM DDR2 MB and I've had my share of issues with it. Overcoming the last major ongoing issue has been memory and BSODs. Lost 1 memory slot and a 2GB memory module-dead. To get back to 8GB RAM, I had to get this 1 4GB module. It's wrkg, though after installing it, I had a SATA cable failure after data errors and transfer time-out problems "just mysteriously appeared". So I hope this module will be worth the trouble cause in in addition to all dat, for the 1st time ever, I had a shipping and CC fiasco with NewEgg!!! And no apologies.

Pros: Good performance, quiet. OS installations of both Windows 7/8, and currently using a dual boot configuration between them-it's performed well under both OS's. I do some video editing and it's handled rendering, storage, retrieval and playback of footage well, no hick-ups.

Cons: I was kinda skeptical about this drive due to the 3 egg rating. And my original drive purchase did get sent back because it tended to lag when refreshing screens or opening up windows (like Explorer window) intermittently. That annoyed me and I knew it wasn't gonna get better, you know, "Heal Itself". So I returned it and requested another. It's worked out well so far.

Other Thoughts: My personal thoughts..I got a super deal on this drive, as I bought it during Black Friday sale. I'd waited 2 years to get a 2GB drive that I didn't have to pay close to or over $100 for. I got that chance during the Black Friday sale Nov. 2012. I believe I paid $68 or $69. I couldn't pass that up even with the 3 egg rating. I gave it 4 eggs instead of 5 only because I did have to return the first drive (tho it did work, just not to my satisfaction). So, I'd recommend the drive, as this one has worked well.
