SANS DIGITAL MobileSTOR MS2UT+B Big (Spanning), Safe (RAID1), Fast (RAID 0), JBOD, SAFE33, & SAFE50 2 3.5" Drive Bays USB 2.0 (480Mbps) & eSATA (3.0Gbps) 2 Bay SATA to eSATA/USB 2.0 Enclosure (Black)

Pros: Affordable unit with lots of features.

Cons: Noisy fan.

Overall Review: I first bought a MS2UT several years ago and other than a VERY loud fan it continues to work to this day. 6 months ago I bought this unit, the MS2UT+B, and it worked great with a much quieter fan than the old one until a month or so ago the digital display went crazy and started showing random characters. I sent an email off to their support dept. and they had me do a firmware update on the unit and that only seemed to make the unit worse so they provided me with a RMA # for replacement.

Most Critical Review

Not a good mobo

Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSH / C51PVM06N2-6KRSH 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6150B(PV) Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSH / C51PVM06N2-6KRSH 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6150B(PV) Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Its cheap and one of the few Socket 939 boards out there

Cons: Everything. It is a cheap board. The driver CD is a joke. It installs a bunch of stuff you don't need and on mine, there were constant problems trying to get the drivers to even load. Also, finding new drivers for this board online is very difficult and it won't be long before they are completely gone.

Overall Review: If you have a fairly new 939 cpu and are considering keeping it and using this board like I did, don't. Cut your losses and move on using a good name brand motherboard.

Keyboard works great, backlight doesnt

Logitech K800 2.4GHz Wireless Slim Illuminated Keyboard - Black
Logitech K800 2.4GHz Wireless Slim Illuminated Keyboard - Black

Pros: Slim keyboard with quiet keystrokes. It uses a traditional layout, no dumb arrangement of keys. The battery life seems to be very good so far. This is being used for work, so I am on it 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week and it has been over a week so far and it is still showing 2/3 bars. I love that you can use the board as a wired as well (when charging). That way if the battery life starts to deteriorate, the keyboard will still work.

Cons: The back light is a joke. It comes on, goes off, comes on, goes off and then stays off. It has two modes of illumination, 1 being when a key is pressed and the other when your hand moves to it. Most of the time, it does not work like it is supposed to but sometimes it does. If you don't need illum. then it isn't that big of a deal. If you plan on using the computer in the dark where backlight's are handy I would look elsewhere.

Junk

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Looks nice, good component layout and decent features.

Cons: It breaks. I have had 3 of these mobo's die on two computers, each time they made it maybe a year before dieing, well beyond the usual 'burn in' period.

Overall Review: Glad to see this board is out of stock, hopefully it will never be carried again.

Fantastic Fan

Scythe S-FLEX SFF21D 120mm Case Fan
Scythe S-FLEX SFF21D 120mm Case Fan

Pros: QUIET! This fan moves only a modest amount of air, but it does so silently. I have 6 of these running in a CoolerMaster 590 case and I can still hear the oem i7 cpu fan over them.

Cons: If you have a case with only a front and rear hole, then these might not move enough air to keep a modern gaming machine cool.

Overall Review: I am running a CM 590 case with Corsair 750W psu, i7-920 (oem cooler), Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo, 12GB corsair DDR3 1600, 2-250GTS vid cards and a raptor hd and my CPU and MB temps stay around 40-44C.

Good, but noisy

SANS DIGITAL MS2UT RAID 0, 1 2 3.5" Drive Bays USB 2.0 & eSATA External RAID Subsystem
SANS DIGITAL MS2UT RAID 0, 1 2 3.5" Drive Bays USB 2.0 & eSATA External RAID Subsystem

Pros: It has done what it is supposed to for me. I have had it for about 2 years now with a pair of WD 320GB drives in a RAID 1 and have not had a single problem.

Cons: Noisy. The fans on this unit are LOUD.

Overall Review: It seems most of the bad reviews came from people using the USB 2.0 connection, I have only done that once or twice, it is connected to my machine with eSATA and powered through a UPS so it turns off/shuts off only a few times a year. Maybe I got lucky with mine. An addition I would like to see is a network connection as well so I could access my data from my laptop with the desktop off.
