Nice Laptop
Pros: The Price. It works great for just an everyday laptop. 4GB of RAM is perfect for multitasking. LED back-light saves the battery and looks great. Battery life is great. Heavy use I got about 2.5 hours out of it. Idle I think I'd get about 5 hours out of it. Built in SD card reader!
Cons: There is no Hard Drive activity light. (I don't know when the HDD is being accessed) My Power LED does not work. Alot of bloatware and trial software.
Overall Review: Even with the cons, I still gave this 5 eggs! The first thing I did wasMAKE A BACKUP DISC of Drivers then I reinstalled Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and used the serial number on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop to get rid of all the junk. Re-installed the drivers and wow is it fast with no bloatware! It is a great laptop for the simple things. Not for gaming. I really would like an HDD light on here. I don't know why you would skip that Acer??
Not for me..
Pros: I guess the thing that I liked the most was that it booted up FAST. It seemed to run better than Windows 7 in general. The secure boot feature is neat. I can see it helping people that may get a nasty virus. Other than that... meh
Cons: Alot of the software I use on a daily basis was not compatible with 8. Granted it will probably soon work with 8 I don't have time to mess around with it. I need it to work now. You can not dual boot with linux. I should say you can dual boot with LinuxMint and Ubuntu... but real linux will not dual boot with windows 8 yet. Also they are working on that problem but I want my linux now and I don't want to use an idiot proof linux like ubuntu. This is all because of the secure boot feature above. It's great if your just an average user but it will not allow you to dual boot at the moment with other operating systems. I was messing around with 8 trying different things and it didnt like something I did and that auto repair tool came up and it took HOURS to do what ever it did and didnt fix the problem. Ridiculous. I had some driver issues and I'm sure in the near future this will be fixed but again, I don't want to wait. I know you can put tiles on the start screen to do things like do a full shutdown but to do a full shutdown without a shortcut takes a whole lot of work... It use to be Start > Shutdown... not anymore! I think the charms bar and how things work is ridiculous.. If you use IE you can't open multiple tabs unless you open it from the desktop. Most everything I do has to be run from the desktop anyway!!! I want it to boot to the desktop with a start menu. I don't have a tablet, I have a desktop I don't need features made for a tablet on my desktop.
Overall Review: I downgraded to 7 so I can use the computer how I want to. I need my software to work and would rather be using a good distro of Linux. I'm sure in the future I'll give it another shot. For the average user I think after you get use to the new interface it would be OK.. but just OK. I don't want my desktop to work like my tablet. I will never buy a Micro-shaft tablet so I don't care if they would sync and look alike. I'm starting to think MAC is the way to go.. Now there are apps you can install that disable the start screen and go straight to the desktop and bring back the start menu. That is always an option for desktop/laptop users.
Fool me once...
Pros: I love the design of this thing. for SATA drives, just plug int he power and then the entire adapter plugs right into the drive. There are less cables to get in the way because of that. That's great if its up on your cluttered work bench.
Cons: Two have failed on me with the same problem. They will not read some drives. I had two identical drives; could read one fine, second drive came up and said there was a problem and needed to format. Quality control is an issue it seems.
Overall Review: Some people think this works great. I also used the Vantec SATA/IDE to USB. NewEgg number: N82E16812232002. They have been working with no issues for years. It's a great alternative to this one around the same price. BYTECC needs to get quality control better. Vantec has proved for this price you can get quality. I normally shy away from bytecc in general.
Packs a lot of power!
Pros: *Very high capacity battery. It charged my S4 4 times before going dead. *Dual outputs for charging *2A Charge charges things faster
Cons: *When you plug in a device, it seems you have to push the little button to start the charge. *It's a bit heavy for carrying around in your pocket or purse *It takes a VERY long time to recharge after a complete discharge. Mine took 8+ hours
Overall Review: This things is great! It is a large capacity battery, so it will weigh more. It's still about the size of a thick phone or small digital camera so you can still slide it into your pocket. I'm not sure why it took so long to charge back up. The first two bars came back within an hour or two but the last two bars took sometime to finish. (I'm not sure exactly how long but I left it plugged over night to fully charge)
Not sure about this thing...
Pros: Looks cool, spreads the heat very well. I have a 6 core CPU and it keeps the thing about 28-30 C at idle. LED fan is cool as well. Matches my case fans.
Cons: This fan on this thing is bad. It sounds like the bearings are shot in it already. At certain speeds it makes ALOT of noise.
Overall Review: I've used one of these in another build and had no complaints. That's why I got another one. I'll keep using it for now but in the few weeks I've had it, it has gotten louder and louder.
Well built?
Pros: Price and seemed to be well built
Cons: Had issues from day one and now a stick is completely dead. Can't find any warranty info from crucial and what I can find it seems like I'm out of luck.
Overall Review: I usually get G Skill or Kingston and will not get Crucial again.
