MSI Laptop GE Series Intel Core i7-3610QM 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 17.3" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit GE70 0ND-033US

Pros: - Runs current games very well at high settings - OCable (reportedly, have not tried myself) - Great specs for the money - Anti-glare screen works well - Decent sound - Useful function keys on top row - Bright screen - Text is very clear The performance for the dollar of this laptop is as good as it gets.

Cons: - Anti-glare screen makes certain types pf text and images blurry - Keyboard uneven/loose and misses some keystrokes when typing fast - Glossy exterior unnattractive and easily smudged. One has to wonder what they were thinking - Short battery life

Overall Review: For gaming, this laptop performs very well. For surfing, it's ok but the AG coating makes some images like thumbnails and text on embedded objects look grainy. The intended purpose of the coating is achieved in that it very effectively cuts glare. It's one of those things you appreciate when you don't have to move your machine or head around to see past the reflections in a bright environment. The battery life is short but you would expect that in something with this much power. The main issue for me is the occasional blurry images and the keyboard; it's loud on one side and quiet on the other. It looks like a panel that is fit into a debauch but is not clipped down well on one side. I contacted Newegg and was instructed to contact MSI; I then contacted MSI and was instructed to contact Newegg ... sigh. I don't want to return it, I just want to have the keyboard fastened evenly; it really makes the computer feel cheap.

WD Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Good speed and large cache, install was simple and the motherboard ran it at 6gb/sec transfer rate.

Cons: Just as soon as I got the OS and other programs and files 90% setup I got a blue screen and the drive ceased to function; less that one day of use out of it.

Overall Review: WD is sending me another. I'm letting the Egg of the hook since they take good care of their customers; WD can eat the cost of this.

works very well

[Support UHS-I Cards]UtechSmart USB 3.0 Card Reader 8-in-1 for SDXC, SDHC, SD, MMC, RS-MMC, Micro SDXC, Micro SD, Micro SDHC Card

Pros: convenient and attractive design usb 3.0 allows for standard and micro sd form factors w/o adapter great price

Cons: only possible downside is it will block two adjacent usb slots due to size of housing

Overall Review: if you don't have a card reader, this serves well. especially since it is usb 3.0 you get xfer rates that will make good use of class 10 cards

exceptional game

Call of Duty 2 PC Game
Call of Duty 2 PC Game

Comments: Not a shooter fan but this is one of the most purely fun games I've played. Graphics are excellent (retail version has been optimized from the demo so it's smoother), the context-sensitive chatter and background gunfire and explosions are extremely immersive. It's fast-paced and frenzied action, they did their best to capture the feel of heated battle and succeeded IMO. The final battle for the US is just nuts so I won't ruin the fun by talking about it. The MP is hella fun too. The weapons are well balanced and the maps are nice and detailed.
