Stabilized my 2600K overclock
Pros: Fully modular, ultra-low voltage variation, hybrid fan bearing design. From my experience, unbeknownst to the user, the PSU fan will die, then the components on the PSU will run hotter and age faster, leading to a shorter PSU lifespan. I routinely check my PSU to make sure the fan is running. On the Antec TPQ-1000 I had for nine years I replaced the fan on year seven. Perhaps my the Antec I was using never did supply clean power, because I was never able to hold 4.6 GHz with HT on while stress testing. I opted to run it at 4.6 with HT off. But these days programs and games are finally being optimized to take advantage of multiple cores; with some games being optimized to discern with core is virtual.
Cons: According to the manual you have to fully power down to switch between fan modes.
Overall Review: A fully-modular, platinum-rated, 1000 watt PSU with a 12-year warranty for approximately $200 is a good deal to me. If my budget were really small I'd opt for a gold-rated 750 to 850 watt PSU. I like to have headroom when it comes to wattage, but I'm certain my system would run with a 750 watt PSU. Never go low-quality on a PSU; you don't see the lack of quality until something goes wrong, and at that point, you have to scratch your head as to whether it's your PSU. You're probably thinking, "2600k and this guy's buying a $200 PSU?" My motherboard, CPU and RAM are the only vintage components in my build. They prove to be more than enough when coupled with an Intel 750 serious 1.2TB PCI-E SSD and an Asus RoG Strix 8GB 1070. Perhaps Intel's response to Ryzen will be something worth upgrading to.
Defective
Pros: I wouldn't know.
Cons: Didn't work at all.
Overall Review: I tried to access it from Windows 7, Windows server 2012 R2, and linux with various commands. Reports as a drive but with no media inserted. Didn't bother to RMA cuz of the cost.
Can't ask for more for the money
Pros: Clear, decently-precise audio, clear mic with good pickup. I'm blown away at build quality and audio quality for a budget headset. The headset stays on my head nice and firm and the cloth ear piece covers are unexpected in this price range. Games sound great and so does music on Spotify. They get more than loud enough -- you won't need full volume no matter how loud you like it.
Cons: Audio quality can't stand up to Turtle Beach or Sennheiser, but this a BUDGET headset. Sounds better than comparably-priced phone ear buds.
Overall Review: I give this five stars for what it is: a budget headset. The audio quality exceeded my expectations, but if you demand audiophile-grade sound, you need to spend at least three times this price.
Works; no scuffs or scratches
Pros: Gigabit lan, over 100Mbps wifi. More options than I know what to do with, but I'm learning. 5GHz range is superb. Getting full speed at 40 feet away in my back yard; if I needed a farther range I'd put an antenna outside and wire it to the router. It looks neat. Supports custom operation systems (maybe you call them roms), but I'm leaving it with stock for now.
Cons: Dust in the crevices. Indicates that it was used for a considerable amount of time before being refurbished. But that's the lottery you play. I just hope I get at least two years out of this. A bigger con is that when using the buttons on the unit to turn off wifi, when turning it back on it will re-enable both 5GHz and 2.4GHz radios, even though I had gone in and disabled the 2.4GHz. If you plan on using one frequency only, make sure you set up the security for both just in case the other gets enabled at times.
Overall Review: The discount on this refurb unit was appropriate. So many other refurb deals at various retailers are just not worth dealing with the unknown of a used item and giving up the full warranty. If a refurbished item is only like 80% off the price of the new version, I'll just spend the extra money and get the new one. ASUS priced this right.
Solid Card
Pros: Great performance for the money. The fan housing is sturdier than I thought it would be.
Cons: They need to drop the Windforce tab. It's so unnecessary it almost stopped me from buying this card. It takes a would-be 9 in appearance down to a 7.3. It's not enough to drop an egg off, but close.
Overall Review: I've been running an i7 2600k for nearly 3 years now at 4.8GHz. Even though I had only a GTX 260 I was able to near max BF3 on a 1680x1050 resolution. This card coupled with my processor should yield some good performance in games to come, even when I upgrade my monitor to 2650x1080. In a year this will probably be $199. A good upgrade path should games get more demanding.
Overpriced
Pros: Ample hardware for a netbook/smartbook hybrid. Stylish. Good battery life.
Cons: Overpriced. Compared to similar-priced products, this just isn't attractive at the price at the time of this review. knock about 20% off the price and I would consider buying it.
