Pros: Excellent resolution
OSD Ease of Use
Cons: Quality control
Back light bleed is excessive
2nd one I got only goes to 144hz
Other Thoughts: So this is the second PG279Q that I have ordered from Newegg. This first blew me away with its great resolution, 165hz G-Sync variable refresh rate, the looks and quality of design. However I sent it back as the back light bleed was very bad. Worse than my $180 Asus 1080 monitor. This is likely due to it's incredibly thin bezel but at this price is was a little disappointed. I was going to keep it as it was flawless otherwise but as soon I my first night time gaming session started I really couldn't get over the amount of BLB. It was like there was someone 10 feet back shining a flashlight on the lower left corner of the screen. Asus says to adjust the screen brightness but you can't if you want to run it in sRGB color mode (which I do).
The second one was delivered very fast but had a light amount of dust on the screen leading me to believe that it was also a returned unit. The first thing I did was checked the BLB and it was just as bad as the last one, maybe less in the lower left corner but more uniform on the other corners.
But the really upsetting let down came when I went to overclock it to it's advertised 165hz refresh rate... it would only go to 144hz! I managaed to get it to state 165 on the OSD but in windows and nVidia control panels I was unable to select anything about 144hz.
This is a very bad thing as the second one I received was more defective than the original I sent in for replacement.
I am unsure of what to do as I love this monitor in theory if it works as advertised but so far I've been having nothing but issues and don't like the other alternatives on the market.
Newegg, ASUS, HELP!
Pros: Can't think of any as it is terrible for what I purchased for.
Cons: Let me begin by saying that I purchased this tablet for the sole purpose of using it for PC game streaming to my tv and for watching Netflix. It doesn't stream PC games at all from day one with Steam. I have a GTX 680 and an ASUS RT-AC66U router which I purchased as well for the sole purpose of streaming games via Steam. The writing was on the wall as soon as I plugged in the tablet to my 1080p tv, when I noticed that in console mode the tablet resolution doesn't fit the tv screen. There is a little of the edge icons that you cannot see. Upon launching Steam via the tablet into Big Picture Mode the tablet started to access it but then the screen went to the blue background color of Big Picture Mode and wouldn't show any games, options, settings or anything. Not only that but it froze on the PC side of things so I had to CTRL-ALT-DELETE to exit out. This is ALL THAT HAPPENS! Contacted customer support and they stated that Steam needed to be updated. So I tried only to find out I was on the latest version of Steam. They then said I would have to contact customer support for Steam as it is their issue. So I spend over almost $600 (Router, tab, controller, and stand/case), and wait 3.5 weeks for delivery only to have it not work for its main selling point and then have them finger point instead of working with Steam to resolve the issue.
As of this writing I cannot play more than 7 supported PC games (a few that were listed as supported are apparently no longer supported!) from my 150+ Steam library!
Also my other main reason for purchasing was to enjoy Netflix in 1080p on the TV (don't have a smart tv only Wii U which is slow but works fine). Well when you plug it into the tv and switch to console mode to use the controller for Netflix it is obvious this was never optimized AT ALL! Besides the aspect ratio of the tablet not that of a standard 1080p tv (meaning that some stuff is off screen) the controller doesn't work with it at all! When in Netflix there is a recently watched tab and other tabs below which the left stick will select but will not scroll. Duh, the right stick! Wrong! That is a mouse courser! Then the track pad does the same as the right stick! However the real problem is that you cannot scroll what is on the instant ques, recently watched, recommended for you, etc. The only way I was able to find and watch a show that wasn't on there (such as my 4th most recently watched show) was to use the clumsy mouse courser to select the search icon (almost off the screen btw!) and to use the controller to type out the title then select it. Then I had to exit the show to select the correct episode as it assumed since I searched it I wanted to watch from the beginning!
Horrible experience and no customer support!
Don't waste your money unless you just want a standard tablet that can play Android games (pointless they all aren't very good!)
Pros: i just love the size and features of this case and the looks are striking yet subdued. I don't like edgy in your face cases nor boring looking cases. This is timeless looking case that was fairly easy to install an mATX dual card system. I installed an EVGA 680 (10.5" length) no issues as well as a Corsair H100i liquid cooler in the top. This was a tight fit and the direction I placed it had the hoses up front blocking the use of any optical drives (no biggie). I was also able to install the NZXT Hue RGB LED Case Lighting system which uses an 5.25 drive bay but had to install in the lower of the two bays.
Also upgraded all case fans and the radiator fans to Corsair Quiet Edition fans. Now I can't hear it until my ear is literally about 3 inches from a fan location.
Cons: The only real cons I can think of are that the front panels are that great looking brushed aluminum look and texture however they get dirty very easy and are hard to get and keep clean. Think of matte material and you'll get the idea. It's great to look at when its clean but boy do you have to be careful with it to keep it clean.
My other minor gripe is that when I put in a disc drive or the NZXT Hue lighting controller into the front they are recessed back and detracts from the clean lines that I loved about the case in the first place. This is worse with a disc drive (I have removed it as I don't use it and looks bad) it has a flat surface but it is just about 10 mm back from all of the rest of the front. With the lighting controller in however the knobs that would normally stick out are now flush so it is ok for me.
Other Thoughts: Over I am very happy with this case. During the build process there were a few things that made it a little difficult here and there but other than the tight fit of the H100i radiator they were small and forgettable once finish so not worth mentioning as most other cases this size are a sizable challenge in many regards.READ FULL REVIEW
