Plextor wins again
Pros: Reliable Fast Still fast after nearly 2 years of use; no perceptible slow down
Cons: Expensive at the time of purchase
Overall Review: This has been keeping my Thinkpad W500 happy with Windows 7. Put in a drive sled for a mechanical drive to separate data from OS.
Does the job
Pros: Silent Runs cool enough for daily use (occasional gamer with ancient games) Display is snappier at 1920x1200 vs the integrated graphics that had been in use Cost effective
Cons: 2GB of RAM is overkill for this card and most of the use scenarios it will address. Could have saved a buck or two with a little less RAM.
Overall Review: The card has gotten daily use over nearly 4 months without any hiccups. FWIW, Windows 7 WEI Gaming/Graphics hit a 7 score. Having a quiet and capable card is a nice change of pace.
Moves bits as needed
Pros: Provides consistent ping replies and full bandwidth for my 50mb internet connection VOIP runs smoothly over it VPNs run smoothly over it They operate peacefully across circuits Operates a little over room temperature
Cons: Working to come up with a con... the units seem to just work. I have unplugged them once or twice in network troubleshooting, but it seems like other gear in the house was causing the trouble.
Overall Review: My house is 20 years old. One adapter is plugged in the basement and the other upstairs. The upstairs adapter feeds an 8 port unmanaged switch, which keeps a few systems running all day long and the VIOP 24/7. This has been a great addition to the network for the last 3 months.
