Best Monitor Ever?
Pros: This monitor is impressive from the moment you unbox it. It's much larger than you think until you see it - it's just utterly field of view enveloping. But more than just a large screen, the incredible amount of real estate 3440x1440 offers is comparable to a dual-monitor setup, minus the bezels. Sitting in front of this monitor feels like taking the captain's chair. More than that, the picture is gorgeous. Colors are vibrant, and the DPI is at the perfect sweet spot where text is still easily readable but the image looks fluid. I bought this monitor as the ultimate gaming monitor, and it has not disappointed in that regard either. The enhanced FOV is advantageous in multiplayer and incredibly immersive in single player games. The resolution is fairly demanding to run games on but completely within reach of modern hardware. It's purely personal preference, but I was also happy with the input port placement, about as good as you could hope for if using with a VESA arm. The joystick is a decent idea, does allow you to control the monitor with a single "button," which certainly beats squinting at several buttons to find the right one.
Cons: The stand is not as bad as some reviewers make it out to be, it's a combination of clear plastic and what looks like brushed aluminum, so it's hardly a $2 throwaway. That said, I never used it once - this monitor is really made to be used on a VESA arm for adjustability and precision placement, and I think LG knew it and threw in an excuse stand to keep the overall cost down. That's fine, I would guess the vast majority of people seriously interested in this kind of monitor would prefer a custom mount anyway. The plastic bottom bezel looks a little out of place, but it doesn't detract from the overall greatness of the monitor.
Overall Review: I've heard some report bad light bleeding. Even on an all black screen I saw little to no bleeding unless at a very sharp angle. In normal use the screen looks nice and uniform, so if this was an issue before, it would seem the newer batch has corrected it. Linus was right on the money with this one. 4K is dead, 21:9 is king. Long live the king.
Pros: - More flexible than the images would suggest. Rotates at every joint, easy to get the monitor exactly where you want it. - Super strength! I mounted an LG 34UM95, a 34" monitor, and this arm holds it like a champ. - Clamp is good and firm. - Cable routing built in. - Looks like a cybernetic arm! - Every single part is huge and heavy, all metal is thick and inspires confidence that it's solid as a rock.
Cons: - A small plastic part, which thankfully is only decorative, was broken off when I received it. It doesn't really bother me but I'd have liked it even more if it hadn't been broken. It's not worth sending it back and going without the arm, though, so that should tell you how much I'd hate to go without it.
Overall Review: This is THE arm to use if you want a VESA arm for some of the larger desktop monitors. With a 30 lbs capacity, it's more than up to the task, and provides outstanding monitor mobility.
Pros: Good friction fit.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Carries a 7.1 surround signal, verified working correctly. Decently flexible cable. Perfectly satisfactory.
Pros: The very fact that I have no complaints is enough.
Cons: None, it works.
Overall Review: It's an ethernet cable. It works, and doesn't look like it will stop working any time soon.
Pros: Good quality construction, carrying 3440x1440 @ 60Hz with no issue, and that's all it needs to do.
Cons: Slightly stiff jacket. Nothing problematic.
Pros: It's 32GB of quad channel 2133 RAM. Speaks for itself. I've had it for about 3 months, no performance issues. All four sticks worked perfectly out of the box. If you care about that sort of thing, it certainly looks impressive enough. Good pick for a builder who likes to show off the parts.
Cons: Bizarrely, BIOS detects it at 1333, but it not only runs at 2133, it's quite tolerant of overclocking. If it works it works, just one of those things that could stress you out when you see it.
Overall Review: Performance is 5/5, zero complaints there. I would have maybe blamed my BIOS for the detection error but I see even from these reviews that the exact same thing happens to others as well. It's nothing to discourage you from choosing this, though, this is absolutely a good value for this much memory.
