TP-LINK RE200 IEEE 802.11ac 750 Mbit/s Wireless Range Extender - ISM Band - UNII Band - 2.40 GHz, 5 GHz - 3 x Antenna(s) - 3 x Internal Antenna(s) - 1 x Network (RJ-45) - Wall Mountable

Pros: -easy to add to network, GUI wizard is concise and logical. -looks new, not refurbished, factory cellofan wrapped, in new factory box -dual band allows netwoork speed optimization -can be used as a WiFi network adapter for a desktop computer -reliably works and doesn't require any maintenance/reboots

Cons: -does not expand network over pretty standard 2 years old TP-Link WiFi router

Overall Review: I have it installed in a cottage with main WiFi router on the first floor and the "extender" on the second. Connecting extender was not a problem , the only limit was that my 2 years old router does not have 5 GHz band so I could not use speed boost mode from extender. The extender cover whole house, similarly to the router and signal obviously stronger closer you get to the extender. However, while outside, I cannot see any improvement for the signal range. The range is basically the same or worse for the extender network compare to main router, even though the extender located at higher point. I think the extender use could be beneficial for buildings with a lot of metal in walls . The extender would allow for WiFi to reach "around corners". In environment with no high density disturbance router with bigger antenna is more effective for extending WiFi range. The RE200 built in antenna can not compete with external antennas of a router. However I found very interesting LAN port on the extender. It makes it into pretty powerful WiFi adapter for a desktop computer without one and that is how i am going to use it.

Most Critical Review

surprising consistency - fails after 18 months

Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MKNSSDEC120GB
Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MKNSSDEC120GB

Pros: affordable

Cons: failed after 18 months of no use so similar to many many other review cases here. On Saturday night was fine, on Sunday morning just converted to SandForce 200026BB 0.00B.

Overall Review: I had it in a machine that I would turn on only on weekends (at a cottage). So over 18 months since I purchased the drive and installed (October 2015) the machine was on for maybe 100 days. Never less the same as for many other users of the drive it failed after the same period. I wonder how manufacturer manages that?
