Pros: Fans don't turn on until a low to medium load(I think 60%?). When they do turn on they're a little loud, but the distance between my ear and the case is less than a foot so I can hear everything. I like that it's modular, I thought it was fully modular. Must have misread... I only have 3 cables plugged in, 1 molex, two SATA ones. The actual PSU itself feels like it's really great quality. The sleeved cables are nice, keeps the case somewhat tidy. I like that the sleeved cables are black.
Cons: I expected it to be fully modular especially since I was going to buy the RM1000 which is fully modular but was out of stock for 2 weeks till i got fed up, and bought this one, which according to PRICE and the way Corsair PSU's are bracketed on their website, HX series fall below AX series, and RM fall below AX, and HX respectively. HX should be fully modular. But eh whatever. I have the Corsair 900D case, with a Corsair PSU. The CPU 8 pin + 4 pin goes halfway up the case. It's real smart and fortunate (for myself) that Corsair 900D brought a CPU power extender, otherwise it would not have reached the top of the case. Sleeved cables are STIFF, really STIFF. I let them sit out for a while. I also tried warming them up, they are still really stiff. I'm waiting till I get paid to get individually red sleeved cables from Corsair. Would be nice to get that as an option for extra $. "Corsair HX Series™ modular power supply units are designed for gaming rigs, overclocking systems,"...Yet the cable that is not modular for the CPU(8 Pin) is only 8 pins, where are the other 4 pins you need for OC STABILITY? Right, there's another cable for that...ANOTHER cable. An 8 Pin + 4 pin cable, so that means the CPU 8 pin cable that comes from the PSU that is NOT modular is worthless. Thank goodness for that CPU power extender on the 900D, but something doesn't sit right with me that an 8pin connecter powers a 8pin + 4 pin connector(extender). When I run a game that's kind of modern, there's a high pitch screeching emitting from the PSU. When I run the windows experience index I get the high pitch screech. When I run 3D Mark, i get that high pitch screech. Could be the GPU...Could be the PSU. I put my ear right up on it, sounds like the PSU. I disabled v-sync, nothing.
Overall Review: Great PSU, Great feel, Great price. Those sleeved cables, nah, get individually sleeved, a lot more flexible. Put blame on the GPU or the PSU, because right now a lot of people have this problem and they just blame each other.
Had to RMA 1 stick
Pros: Plenty of memory and also the red goes well with my case theme. The one stick thats good works great but I'm using up close to 5 gigs of ram so I prefer the 16gb.
Cons: Had to RMA 1 stick because when installing windows it would give me a BSOD and later on the system would not post at all(later I mean 15mins later). Had to give it 2 eggs because to RMA I had to send back both sticks, so for a week now I haven't had my computer. which is annoying...
Great Drive!
Pros: Great drive! Lot's of space for a good price. I also have an SSD for my OS, everything else on here.
Cons: No cons yet!
Good
Pros: - Faster than my old mechanical hard drive. - Boots up faster than old HDD
Cons: I have not yet seen the speed I've heard so much about. Computer boots up at around 35 seconds. Only OS and windows updates on SSD rest on a 7200rpm HDD. thats only 15 seconds better than my old desktop with a 1 core processor from 2003. I'll mess around with it once RMA'd RAM comes back but for now 3 eggs.
