Solid router
Pros: Easy setup and strong performance. Arrived on time and was a breeze to setup. We upgraded from an older Belkin router and the difference in performance was impressive. I haven't tried all the bells and whistles that come with the router, nor have I really tested if the 5GHz band offers better performance, but so far it has been performing flawlessly.
Cons: None really
No quality control whatsoever
Pros: Price was low for LED bulbs
Cons: Simply no quality control whatsoever. TWO out of the five lightbulbs were not in working conditions. This tells you that this company obviously does not know what quality control is about, and I am dreading that the lifetime of the other LED lightbulbs will be nowhere near what they advertise. Sure, I could ask for a return, but the hassle of going through this mess for just two lightbulbs is simply not worth it, so I'll take the loss and hope that in the future Newegg will be a bit more diligent in selecting which company they invite into their marketplace. This definitely dented my trust in Newegg.
Overall Review: I hope that Newegg gets its act together and enforces more stringent quality control requirements on the companies it invites to participate in its marketplace.
Good looking but flaky
Pros: Light and sleek. The 256 GB SSD is a decent size
Cons: One of the flakiest machine I have ever had. There are apparently problems with the bios that Asus is not openly acknowledging, but which manifest themselves by problems associated with the sleep function, i.e., after a while your laptop switches to the setup utility page and there is no way to leave it except through a hard reboot. That will get you out and you can log back in just to wait for the problem to reoccur. In addition to the above problem, the power adapter just died on me, and the aluminium of the casing is so thin that it is easy to dent of scratch it on the slightest surface bump. When combined with lukewarm performance (in spite of the SSD), I don't think I will renew my experience with Asus.
Fine chair, inept assembly instructions
Pros: Comfortable with decent back support and smooth up-down motion. Appears reasonably sturdy. The lumbar support on the meshed back of the chair does a pretty good job even if it is not adjustable.
Cons: The first drawback are the assembly instructions that fail to spell out that installing the back not only calls for two people working together and pushing really hard to align things, but also that many of the parts need to be left loose (though not too loose) in order for this gymnastic to eventually succeed. Two other drawbacks: (1) armrest are not adjustable (this is not unexpected for a chair in that price range, but means that you have to be "just the right size"), (2) the padding on the seat seems pretty thin. It is fine right now, but I don't know how well it will hold after a few months of use. One last minor nit. The knob that controls the tension for back-front inclination of the back is relatively ineffective. That seems to be the case for most such chairs, so it's not a surprise; just a comment.
A mixed bag
Pros: Pretty good price to storage capacity ratio and reasonably portable.
Cons: The worse feature of this drive is its connector. It is flimsy, quirky, and above all very poorly made. It has an odd shape that involves multiple parts with different curves and angles and made out of an extremely and relatively malleable metal which as can be expected in a *portable* drive can then be easily bent out of shape by the slightest tension (in both the connector part inside the drive and on the cable itself). The net result is that connecting your drive now requires wiggling the connector and the cable until the connection is made properly and then keeping it in that exact position while you try to complete your data transfer. Try to get that done in an airplane... The net of it, is that if you are going to use this drive on your desktop where there is no risk of sudden movement that could apply the slightest pressure on the connector and affect its fit in the socket, then this may be an OK solution if you are really short on desk space (there are many better desktop storage options). In addition to its quirky connector, the other big minus of the drive is that it is excruciatingly slow, so backups tend to take forever.
