IPS is a step up for sure
Pros: Very vibrant screen - w/ IPS I don't struggle so much to find the right balance of contrast / brightness and colors. It just looks good without a whole lot of adjustment.
Cons: Waiting for it to go on sale again to pick up another one to match for multi-monitor use.
Won't accept 32GB Ram
Pros: Has a good number of features
Cons: Won't accept 4 sticks of 8GB Ram (32GB) as advertised. I have 4 new sticks of Corsair Vengeance LP sticks from newegg (which I bought with and for this board). The board will not even boot to bios with all 4 sticks. It will only recognize 2 sticks at a time. Very frustrating because even if the manufacturer were to offer a replacement (which I don't know that they would) I would have to either purchase a new windows license or deal with hours of MS techs to get the license to transfer to a new board.
Open Box Defective on Arrival
Pros: Appears to be high quality material (same as some Azio external drives) - Some people complain about the s-video type power connector - but I think this type is a bit more sturdy and steer clear of the other type (ends up in frayed power cords)
Cons: Upon Arrival - did not work. The fan worked fine but the enclosure did not. Two working drives did not work in this enclosure. Unless Newegg makes things right, I'll have to pay for shipping on the way here, shipping on the way back (RMA), and a restocking fee (all told about 25 bucks - with no item to show for it)
Overall Review: This was an open box item - but usually those are good from newegg. Waste of time and shipping costs.
Works w/ SD-HC
Pros: It works w/ the A-Data 8GB SD-HC card that is currently on sale (as well as every other sd & CF card I've stuck in it). Looks clean in PC & can use as an external reader.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Very Happy - Good Value
Pros: Good bank for buck - front panel connectors and 3&1/2" bay are covered by flip pieces. Also extra spots for additional hard drives in back of front fan are nice.
Cons: The 120mm fan is weak - I replaced it with an old powerful sunon 120mm fan. Side vent seems pointless - I want the air traveling over the CPU - also if using a large cpu cooler the plastic side vent piece must be removed.
Overall Review: Good value
Great Bang For Buck
Pros: Does what it's supposed to I use it to record my daughter's shows and then she can watch Noggin in the basement (since we only have one cable box). Quality looks very good on 2 hour mode. Accepts s-video in. Has 3 video Component out and has progressive scan. Has firewire in (haven't used this yet - but expect it will be useful in transferring home movies mini-dv to DVD) For everything it does it's very inexpensive. No quality problems as other reviewers mentioned.
Cons: Remote not the most intuitive and can be confusing - but if you shop here and are a bit of a geek it should be easy enough (but you may have difficulty explaining to others in your home how to work it)
