Rosewill RX355-U Aluminum 3.5" IDE USB 2.0 External Enclosure
Rosewill RX355-U Aluminum 3.5" IDE USB 2.0 External Enclosure

Pros: Runs nice and cool. The drive I put inside mine used to sit naked on my desk running through a usb-ide adapter, and it would get very hot. Now it barely even gets above ambient temperature. The fan is quiet, and i just keep it on the lowest setting. Installation was easy and my linux computer detected and mounted it immediately. The indicator light is not super bright, which is a good thing for me. The last thing I want is another bright blinky light on my desk. If you look at the indicator it is easy to see, but it will not light up your room at night.

Cons: Some parts, like the internal frame to which the drive mounts, are plastic. As a consequence you can hear the drive move inside the enclosure if you shake it. I would prefer metal to make the internal structure stiffer, but I don't plan on shaking my drive while its running so I guess it's just fine.

Overall Review: I purchased this enclosure to replace one which I accidentally fried (turns out you can plug in a type-B usb plug upside down......) The old enclosure used to run hot and had no active cooling, so this is definitely an improvement since I keep this drive running 24/7. The enclosure is not perfect, but it is extremely good, especially for the price.

Great for the price

Acer Veriton VN2620G-UC887L (DT.VFGAA.001) Nettop Computer - Intel Celeron 887 1.50GHz 2GB DDR3 320GB Linux - Gray, Black
Acer Veriton VN2620G-UC887L (DT.VFGAA.001) Nettop Computer - Intel Celeron 887 1.50GHz 2GB DDR3 320GB Linux - Gray, Black

Pros: Very inexpensive. Reasonably small. Has USB 3.0 on one side and Gigabit LAN on the other, so it's great for serving up files on a network. The BIOS also has an option to restore previous power state upon power loss/restoration. Great to make sure that your file server comes back up after a power outage.

Cons: Not strictly a con, but the graphics and processor are weak, so don't expect too much. Also, the pre-installed linux is HORRIBLE. Nuke it and install your favorite distro.

Overall Review: I bought this with the express intent of making a small file server to share my external hard drives on my network. In a headless configuration it does exactly what I need with no fuss. Additionally, I hooked it up to my HD tv. It works, but I do perceive a tiny bit of latency or frame stutter at times.

good mouse

Logitech V220 Royal Blue 3 Buttons Tilt Wheel Cordless Optical 1000 dpi Notebook Mouse

Pros: Great mouse. Had decent range and quick response. Batteries lasted a long time as well. Nicely portable, although the receiver was a tad large.

Cons: After more than a year of heavy use, the left mouse button began to have issues. It would not register some clicks unless I hit it just right. Not a software issue, the behavior was the same across multiple computers and operating systems.

Overall Review: I would have been willing to get another one, but I decided to branch our and try the M505. Maybe I will cannibalize my old mouse and turn it into a glove-mouse....
