very nice case

Cooler Master Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Cooler Master Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: looks great, well constructed. nice big quiet fans. the popout on the right side gives more room to rout cables. hd rails feel firm, nice click when installing. fan-light button is nice. overall very happy with this case

Cons: card retention clips are really whimpy, not a biggie cause i screw everything down anyway. 2 pin molex fan connecters...REALLY. fan controllers that report rpm wont unless you get new fans, and then im pretty sure that the nifty fan light button will not work. power button sticks. plastic not rubber feet.

Overall Review: please tell me why you would put fan filters on all 3 fans, as well as the ps intake, and then leave huge louvers in the window (for more fans) without filters?

worthless

"KAZE MASTER" 5.25" Bay Fan Controller
"KAZE MASTER" 5.25" Bay Fan Controller

Pros: looks nice

Cons: worked for 2 boots and died.

Overall Review: this thing has the WORST looking solder joints i have ever seen. it clearly was not done in a wave-soldering machine; but by hand by someone who had way too much coffee. be really careful if you get this thing, you couldnt pay me to run my cpu fan through it

great bass

Logitech Z623 400 Watt Home Speaker System, 2.1 Speaker System - Black
Logitech Z623 400 Watt Home Speaker System, 2.1 Speaker System - Black

Pros: sound great. always had 5.1 but got sick of all the wires, and these things are, imho, just as good and the bass is way better then anything i have had to date. desktop speakers are small but really heavy for the size and don't slide around when making adjustments

Cons: headphone jack is impossible. stupid tight and you REALLY have to push to get the jack fully seated. every time i pull the jack out i think its going to rip off. crossover can be...temperamental, occasional odd noises, or a speaker will cut out for a bit. power cycling seams to fix any of the issues.

Overall Review: the headphone jack cost it a star, the sound is good enough to make up for the occasional crossover burp.

very, very pleased

SAMSUNG 27" TN LCD Monitor 5ms (GTG) 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, DVI S27C230B
SAMSUNG 27" TN LCD Monitor 5ms (GTG) 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, DVI S27C230B

Pros: bright, bright monitor, no dead pixels. the 5ms gtg had me concerned but if there is any ghosting i cant tell, and i play shooters. great fov from about 20" back. headphone hanger is a cute gimmick, although why they didn't put two more holes in the back to allow left side placement is odd.

Cons: lost an egg for the utterly ridiculous lack of control options. i mean really, why would you put 3 preset gamma choices rather than a slider? and, because there is only one input button, where you do have sliders (cont and bt), if you want to change something from 75% to 76% you have to hold the stupid button down until it scrolls all the way around. not too much of a biggie, i just set one of the factory presets and fixed it with my video card software.

Overall Review: a personal beef of mine is peeps complaining about stuff that is spelled out in the specs. no there is no VESA or HDMI, yes that is clearly stated in the specs, its not a con. do be aware that if you watch alot of blu-ray stuff this DVI-only monitor will not be able to handle HDCP encoded disks, you need HDMI or display port for that. as far a quality of picture however, DVI and HDMI are identical: 0's and 1's is 0's and 1's kids.

very nice board

EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX X58 SLI LE Intel Motherboard

Pros: the led that shows POST codes and then cpu temp after boot ROCKS. i have the comp on my desk and i can see the display through the side window. being able to just glance over and check temps when oc'ng and playing games is wonderful, and i trust it more then running a temp probe. jumperless CMOS reset; how did that take so long to figure out? has led indicator lights all over the place, useful AND pretty. rock solid so far. just used the idiot OC for the first time and that works fine; enable a BIOS switch and boom running my i7 920 at 3.2GHZ.

Cons: for some reason it throttled my memory back out of the box. not a big deal, just a quick BIOS fix, but you want to check that. north bridge gets HOT, not to keen on the passive NB cooling. once i add two more fans to my case, that should not be a problem.

Overall Review: this ended up working out for me, and i dont know if its a case thing or cpu placement on the mobo, but in my cooler master scout case, my zalman cnps9500 cooler cleared the top mounted case fan by, like .2mm tops. it was so close i still cant believe it fit. that turns out to be great, my cooler is blowing straight out the 120mm fan in the back, and my top case fan is just sucking heat directly off my cooler fins. havent seen a cpu temp over 40c yet.

worked like a charm

CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C9

Pros: fast, steady. 7.9 on win 7 benchmark

Cons: none so far

Overall Review: like other people, my evga x58 mobo didnt pick up the speed correctly. easy fix in bios
