Logitech G930 Wireless Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound (981-000257R)

Pros: Great Deal!

Cons: Had to RMA the first one

Other Thoughts: I already reviewed this headset but figured I'd post another review to let people know that I had to RMA the headset. The replacement battery I bought from Logitech (brand new) exhibited the same behavior as the battery I replaced so the battery was not the problem. It would only stay on for 2-3 minutes after having it plugged in for hours at a time. That got me thinking that it must be that the battery isn't getting a charge so it had to be the charge port. To support that further, when plugged in, I could use the headset for a few minutes, but eventually it would turn on and off repeatedly due to the battery being dead.

My replacement came and it was pretty much brand new at least in looks. The charge port on the headset looked like it had never been used (where as my previous one was pretty beat up). I plugged it in and after about 8 hrs I used it for the first time. It died after about 9 hrs of continuous use listening to music while I worked. I've had the replacement for about 2 weeks now and it's been great.

If I had to recommend this to a friend or someone here, I would recommend you spend the $30 or so dollars more, depending on the sale price and get a brand new one. You could luck out and get a headset like my second one the first time or you could get a bad one like my first one. After buying the new battery, installing/uninstalling the battery, waiting about a week and a half for the replacement, I'm wishing I would have bought it new and not have had to go through the hassel. Granted my second one is perfect and has no issues, the money I saved isn't worth the time I spent to get a perfect headset.

Pros: Price
Surround Sound
LED on end of mic letting you know when it's muted

Cons: Fit / cup design
Old Battery / Poor Battery Life

Other Thoughts: Every refurb product I've bought off of new egg has arrived looking brand new so I've been blessed in that area. I read the reviews and based on them I decided it was worth the risk. In terms of this headset, I have only 2 complaints.

1) The fit is kind of awkward. I can wear it for hours at a time without having any comfort issues but when it comes to the fit of the cups over my ears, it doesn't sit flush against my head so there is no seal created to block out background noise. Once the seal is there though, it's hard to hear any background noise at all but any movement results in it not sitting flush so you get the kind of seashell effect when the volume is low. Let me just say I have a round head which could be causing the problem.

2) The battery life. Most reviews talked about this prior to purchase so I knew that it could be an issue going in, which is why I'm not too upset about it. I researched how much a replacement battery cost and how to replace it prior to ordering. The battery needs to be replaced. I got about 3 hours out of my first use after charging for the night and every use after that, after 15 minutes, it shuts off even though the charging LED is orange indicating a full charge. It works when plugged in so it's definitely a battery problem. Having it plugged in is fine when I'm on my desktop but when I'm on my laptop, the extra wires are a hassle which is the main reason I purchased this headset in the first place. Would have been cool if the battery was replaced during the refurb process, but it's not that big of a deal. The battery itself is relatively cheap and at the price I got the headset for ($53) plus the cost of ordering a new battery ($5+shipping), is still more than 50% off full retail of buying it new ($105-$160) and if the new battery solves the problem (which I have no doubts it will) then I'll be 100% happy.

Taking one egg off due to having to order a new battery.

CORSAIR CX-M series CX600M 600W 80 PLUS BRONZE Active PFC ATX12V & EPS12V Modular Power Supply
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Price, number of connectors, 600w

Cons: If I had to complain about something it would be the length of the sata power cables. The configuration of my case (mid tower) made it so I had to use both sata power cables to power my two hard drives instead of just one. Each cable barely reached the hard drive with the last plug let alone running them in series.

Other Thoughts: Replaced a dying psu in a dell precision.
