Can this deck record onto chromium tapes?

Yes. It has a REC CRO2 selector button. However, I've never recorded anything on the two Pyle cassette decks I own. I've only used them for playback. In that respect they've worked very well, playing the correct speed and sounding full fidelity.

does it need a AMP?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the deck needs an external amplifier and speakers in order to listen to tapes.  The deck has inputs for recording and outputs for playing, but does not have its own amplifier and speakers for play back by itself.
I've been extremely pleased with the Pyle cassette deck that I purchased.

Question 3

Does this unit play Dolby encoded tapes properly?  Any comments about Sony recorded cassette reproductions?

Unfortunately I cannot answer your questions because I use my deck only for playing cassettes of old-time radio broadcasts. These cassettes have very poor fidelity, are often monaural and of a cheap quality that often used to result in binding of the tape.  But I can say that my Pyle deck does an excellent job with these low-quality cassettes.  In fact, without this deck I'd have to trash the cassettes and go to CDs. I'd definitely buy this Pyle again!

are there jacks for extra speakers?

No, this is just the deck not an amplifier. The output is RCA plugs that go to the amp.

Question 5

Once deck A is finished tape playback....is there an option to continue playing on deck B??

I'm actually not sure, since I only use one side at-a-time to playback cassettes. However, be aware that like most dual cassette players there is only one combined stereo output for both of the sides. I have a TASCAM deck that does have individual e side A / side B outputs, but that's very rare.
