Can the cameras be installed to the wall? From the picture it looks like they can only be attached to the ceiling.

The cameras have a ball joint which allows them to be swiveled and rotated. Mounting them on the wall should not be an issue.

Can I use either an external hard drive or an internal hard drive? I'm new to this stuff and need some extra protection for my home, any info or advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I bought a WD Purple 4TB that i put internal. There are only 4 screws on the bottom of the NVR and the top of the case comes off. it comes with 4 screws to mount the drive in it. plugs right in. There is an additional usb on the NVR that you can add external drive as well. You can set it to overwrite its self when full. I get around 3 weeks of constant record with 3 cameras before hard drive started over writing its self. I also set up the auto maintain every 7 days. Restarts itself, less chance for network error that way.

Will this work with an ethernet powerline adapter?

yes, I have it the same way. Make sure get the HIGH SPEED Adopter. Its physical connection from one electric wall all the way...to your Recording-Place. Do not configure  on Wi-Fi wireless. Physical Connection is really good. Me going to buy DOORBELL PRO RING - Which is better to see People coming to your Front door, and you can hear them all.

I think, there is another product far better than Q-SEE Cameras. I would check...and make sure  you want is "Sensor trigger" setup, IF someone passing by... Get the BEST CAMERAS - the Latest technology, because you going ot keep this for a long time.
