Can i use this in a regular laptop?

You can but there are mixed opinions about whether it is a good idea.  The feature that makes it a red is called TLER, Time Limited Error Recovery.  Some think the feature causes problems with operating systems like Windows or MacOS.  It's probably safer to use a green or blue drive and leave the reds for NAS arrays.  I used mine in a FreeNAS box.

Question 2

Does this drive come with software & cable to transfer data from a C drive to This new drive,to replace the "C" drive in my computer?

it is a "bulk" hard drive. It comes with no cables or software. I just dropped it in my second bay in my laptop, hooked up a sata cable that I already had and did an image copy to the new drive from the C drive. 
  In the past I have image copied the C drive to a new drive in an external box, took the "new" drive out of the external box and popped it into the laptop replacing the C drive.  I think this is the 4th drive I have upgraded in this particular laptop. Very simple and worth the $30 for a external cage. You will find many uses for it.

my 17" early 2011 macbook pro's hard drive died. It is a Toshiba MK7559GSXF 750 GB.  Will this WD10JFCX work for me?

According to the specs of the drives u posted, they are compatible.  The form factor or size is the same and the connection (SATA) is the same.  The rest is really moot because they are hard drives and they read and write at various speeds.  If u are needing speed over storage then go with an SSD drive.

Question 4

Any reason not to use this in a laptop?  Pre-Retina MacBook Pro.  Need to replace the HD in my son's college Mac.

The RED drive actually is made for the higher demands of a NAS system (24/7 operation) where speed isn't the largest factor. Thus, from a heat perspective they would be ideal for a laptop. However, from a durability perspective (MTBF), they are about the same as most other less expensive SSD drives (1,000,000).

I'm unaware of their garbage collection method but would think they should perform as well as any SSD drive in that area.

I understand Black give the best performance and Red use the least power. But I can't see a reason why either wouldn't work fine in a laptop.

Would this drive be compatible with my HP G60-549DX Laptop running windows 7?

I wouldn't recommend this drive be used for a laptop.

This is a NAS drive which means that while it's built to be stable, it is going to be slower than a standard laptop drive.

I would recommend sticking with either a WD black or blue line of drives for computers or laptops.

Can this drive be used in a laptop as a secondary drive, not the OS drive. On my laptop my OS is on my SSD?

It can be used in a laptop, yes. However, it's optimized for server RAID arrays and NAS bays. You're paying extra for features you will not make use of in a laptop unless you're running laptop server.

Will this unit fit into a standard laptop? (e.g.2.5 x 0.37)

Yes. Identical in size to my daughter's Acer's drive.  Open it up, remove the entire assembly (drive & caddy).  Unscrew the caddy from the old drive, with 2 screws, put it on the new one, plug back in, & then screw that in, close er up & you are ready to install your operating system.  Her's came with 32 bit Windows 8 which we tried.  Hated it & went to Windows 7 64 bit.

Can this HD be used to build an external HD?

Absolutely! But it's a laptop-sized (2.5" format) drive, so you need to make sure your NAS enclosure supports that. Not all NAS enclosures do, though this drive is specifically made for NAS/server setups that use these low-power laptop-format drives.

is this compatible with for replacing a toshiba mk3265GSX for a sony vaio lap top?

This is a standard SATA drive, so as long as your laptop BIOS supports Terabyte size drives, and your current drive is of the same thickness, it should work fine.

If you planning to use drive 2 TB or larger, make sure that your notebook BIOS supports UEFI Boot.

Will this function in my Acer Aspire 5750?

I checked and from what someone mentioned your laptop does have a 9.5mm bay so it will work. Some laptops only have 7mm clearance where this wouldn't work.
