Does the top have any type of extra coating on it (like with manufacturer's writing) or is it just the scratchable silver?

The top does have the manufacturer's name and lines to write a title on. Not sure if it is an extra "coating" but they are not the plain silver tops with nothing on them. I am happy with the quality of these and have had no negative issues with the burning process or playback.

These are Ridata Logo tops and are not printable.

What is the media ID code of these discs?

The media code cannot be found on the disc packaging, it must be scanned from an actual disc using a utility like DVDidentifier, ImgBurn, or Nero DiscSpeed. Some examples are: Ritek-F16, MCC004-000, MBIPG101-R05, CMCMAG-AM3, or AML003-000. It tells you exactly who manufactures the DVD media regardless of brand.
