How's the build quality of this mouse?  Is it worth the price?  Considering this one or the corsair M60/M65.

It's excellent build quality.  The plastic has a very soft feel to it but it will show where you touch it the most as you will see oils prints from your hand after a week or two.

I replaced my cyborg 7 with this mouse and it's held up a lot longer.

The buttons are very responsive and rigid, especially the mouse wheel.  Even though it is a tilt wheel, I have yet to tilt when I try to use the scroll or click the scroll.

The laser is very sensitive but can be controlled and fine tuned through the software.  If you are one of those gamers who tend to lift up the mouse to keep moving in one direction, you can modify how far down the laser looks.  I was lifting my mouse about an inch and a half off the desk and it was still moving the mouse.  I have it set to about 3 centimeters.

I was also considering the Corsair M60/65 when I purchased this mouse.  The biggest deal breaker for me was how it felt in my hands.  I switch between claw and palm grip but I like to have the mouse fit into my palm when I use either one.  This one can do that without having to compromise the ability or responsiveness of clicking the buttons.

From the tip of my middle finger to the base of my wrist is about 7.25 inches, to give you an idea of how long the mouse is. 4.5 inches from the thumb join to the side of my hand.  It fits my palm perfectly.

The Corsair M60 and 65 felt shorter in comparison.

The one thing that took me the longest to get used to was the weight.  It is really light without the extra weights.  I put all the weights in and it was still lighter than my cyborg 7.

I only have two issues with this mouse.  The first one, which I have not encountered in a while, was that in Arma 2 the mouse tracking was off, but only in Arma 2 which I rarely play.

The other issue, you gain trophies using this mouse.  When you get one, a very loud man announces it in a creepy voice.  More than likely it will happen in the middle of the night when no one is around.

Is this a right handed gaming mouse?

Simply put, yes. This mouse is fully aimed at right handed mouse users.  The form factor and side button placement are made for right handed mouse users. However, if you are looking for a left handed mouse, Roccat does make ambidextrous mice if I'm not mistaken.

Question 4

Is there a way to have the side mouse buttons recognized simply as "Mouse Button 3" and "Mouse Button 4"?  Having the software assign values to these buttons that can't be recognized by many games seems like a ridiculous oversight.

Mouse button 3 is the Mouse Wheel click. You probably mean Mouse button 4 and 5, which are recognized commands by the vast majority of games. 
To answer your question, yes.
In the driver, those two button commands are called IE Forward and IE Backward. Using the driver, you can map ANY mouse command, media button command, or keyboard command (using custom macros) to ANY mouse button.
There are specific game macros, but using the custom macro commands, you can map any keyboard button to your mouse, meaning you could bind a game action to an under-used key (like insert for example), and then put insert on your mouse anywhere you like. It's really quite versatile. I was surprised and impressed myself.

does this mouse peel off?

I am not quite sure what you mean by "peel off", but there isn't any stickers or decals that peel off the stop or sides.

On the bottom you do have the plastic feet that have the potential to come off but I have not encountered that issue.  There is a silver sticker around the laser sensor that has not peeled off on me but you may want to peel that off as it has a tendency to pick up hairs every once in a while and interferes with the laser sensor but easily fixed by blowing the hair off.  I get this once every few months.

What sized hand is this designed for....I have a hand that is 7.5" from the base of my palm to the top of my tallest finger. Would this mouse be the right size for me?

My hand is just under 8.5", and when i put the base of my palm on the mouse and against the mousepad, theres about 1cm from the tip of my pointer finger to the edge of the mouse. its one of the bigger mouses youll find.

I fell in love with this mouse at first sight but stumble upon the Gx-Gila and now I don't know which to buy. Please help me choose?

I am looking at this mouse but I am not able to find a statement of how long Roccat warranties this mouse. I have read on a couple of sites that Roccat does not offer warranty on anything bought by someone in the USA, they are a foreign company.  I see that Newegg sells some sort of extended warranty but that seems silly to have to pay an additional fifteen dollars on a product that costs so much.  Logitech is excellent to deal with on warranty issues but I want to try this one. So can anyone please say for sure that Roccat offers warranty on their products sold in the USA and how long that warranty is on their mice?

susan: The Roccat XTD has an adjustable report rate of up to 1000 msec. It's a fast responsive mouse, although somewhat larger & heavy. Very good "action", tho.
