Pros: - Powerful, runs all the games on max no issues

Cons: - Exceptionally poor battery life. Expect it to die in about an hours worth of use, maybe 1.5-2 on power saver mode. Don't even think about playing unplugged

- Track pad is poor quality. The unit itself slides around and gets stuck under the frame. Warranty repair was unable to fix

- Bootup issues that were partially resolved under warranty repair. When awaking from sleep it'll just sit there with a lit black screen until hard reboot.

- HDD died after 1.5 years

Other Thoughts: - I would buy something else. This thing has had some seriously annoying issues for a laptop that is well taken care of and lives on a desk 99% of the time.

- Yes, it's a gaming computer, but it's heavy and bulky for a 15'', the fan is incredibly loud so don't bother trying to use it in a library/quiet setting, and the thing is chained to an outlet. While there is some inherent trade off for performance, it seems this thing really doesn't mitigate the other issues well, and it has had too many failures for such a new laptop.

Has exceptional gaming battery life, has most laptop flaws when compared to a desktop.

Pros: -Pretty good battery life while gaming. not quite long enough to get too far into a game, but good enough that if you want to move or just show a friend a game (or if the power goes out) you can get almost an hour out of it from full charge.
-Doesn't scream GAMING LAPTOP too much. I've seen non gaming laptops look more "gaming" than this does.
-usually stays pretty cool
-performs great.
-full numpad (although a little small and awkward to use.)
-keyboard is great for a laptop keyboard.
-very good laptop speakers that have a mesh grill (orange things below the keyboard) for much clearer and louder sound.

Cons: -i hate how thy compromised on the shift button for the arrow keys. Shift is a little shorter and ends just about where i naturally try to hit shift.
-At one point i had problems booting from an m.2 drive. windows would just load forever but either a firmware or windows update seems to have fixed it.
-Some games will get very hot. in fact, playing forza horizons 3 on a 1440p monitor with the laptop closed would cause it to overheat and go into sleep mode for some reason. but most of the time it's fine.
-Doesn't just have a USB type c for a charger. I'm guessing this is just simply because it would probably take more power gaming, but i wouldn't mind needing to plug 2 USB type c in at a time for gaming just so i can both have an extra usb and be able to charge with type c wile not gaming.
-short non-gaming time
-sometimes get a little loud.

Other Thoughts: great laptop overall, although they disabled the integrated graphics which is kinda a double edged sword. on one hand it takes away the problems that sometimes arise on laptops from having 2 GPUs where you can't get a game to run on the main card, but then even when not gaming the 1060 is still running and rendering everything. It could also be the beefier CPU, but when not gaming and just using Word or something it still only lasts a few hours at max. has a decent amount of IO, but after a gaming keyboard, mouse, and headphones, i don't have any extra space for anything else other than a type c device which unless i get some adapters, can only be used for my phone. i would have rather they put micro SD to make room or even just take out the sd card reader all together for one more type A port. Also its a little heavy but considering what it's packing, it's a fair trad-off. Overall though 9/10 would buy again.

Pros: I would recommend this to a friend. With this new line of GPU's there's almost no reason to get a desktop anymore.

Gsync screen that looks surprisingly good for a IPS panel

Backlit keyboard is nice and typing feels great

Nice slim profile and light enough to transport

Has thunderbolt 3 for future eGPU

Plays every game I have on max settings including the Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and Shogun 2 (big battles). With

Looks great. I thought I wouldn't like the WASD keys but they've grown on me

Easy to upgrade SSD, M.2, RAM and wireless card if necessary.

AC Wireless card is fast and reliable

Cons: Bloatware, but I did a fresh install of windows 10 on a SSD after activating the original copy anyway, so minor inconvenience. I oppose bloatware as a whole.

I thought that the fan noise wouldn't bother me, but it kind of does. I would think that with fans this loud, heat wouldn't be an issue. Playing games with headphones is a must but when you play around other people there's nothing you can do. If there was a solution for the fan. Pose this would have 5 stars

Battery life for normal use is <2 hours. Battery life when gaming is maybe 1 hour. Plus when not plugged in, you take a serious performance hit. I would not suggest this for anyone that wants to game away from a power outlet. But then again, no laptop was really meant for that. This is a minor nuisance.

Other Thoughts: Wish there was a gloss screen option and/Or and LED option

Speakers are acceptable. I almost always play with headphones.

Touchpad is acceptable. I always use a mouse anyway.

I replaced the HDD with a 2.5" SSD and add an M.2 SSD. Lighter weight and better performance and cheaper than buying the versions that already come with those.

Bezel is pretty chunky. Wish it was low profile.

When you open the lid, the bottom of the screen partially blocks your exhaust. Seems like a design flaw that increases and traps heat. It also removes the possibility of adding on an external fan.

Can get hot when playing, but if you don't play on your lap you won't really notice. It's a powerful laptop, of course it's gonna get hot. But it doesn't really bother me much.

UPDATE: 5/22/17
I had this laptop sitting on my desk and it went into hibernate mode after not being used. Now the I2C HID driver fails to load and the touchpad will not work. I have gone through tech support and tried all of their solutions. It is probably a hardware issue since even a clean install of windows does not fix it. ASUS wants me to submit an RMA. Pretty disappointed that such a respected brand has a critical hardware failure after ~6 months of light use and now I won't have a PC for a few weeks. Taking off an egg for this.

Great laptop

Pros: - With the 6th gen i7 and GTX 1060 it runs games very well. I'm getting ~60 fps on most games running on very high or ultra.

- Has an M.2 slot which is nice.

- Thunderbolt 3 port

Cons: - It gets VERY HOT even with a cooling pad. So hot, in fact, during gameplay that I can't touch the top portion of the keyboard.

- When the screen is open it partially covers the fan vents so hot air is blown up through the gap between the laptop and screen.

- Only has one upgradable RAM slot (one 8 GB stick and the other 8 GB is soldered).

- Fans will run at full tilt even on moderate gaming sessions.

- The one I got has a bad battery, I guess, because it won't charge to over 97%

Other Thoughts: - If you purchase this I would suggest getting a new hard drive. E.g. M.2 or a regular 2.5" SSD. The laptop comes with all sorts of bloatware. I changed out the HDD with an SSD

- I would also suggest getting a cooling pad if you are going to be gaming a lot. The laptop just gets too hot to not have one.

Great performance but runs too hot?

Pros: Let me start with this, I love this laptop. It runs all the games I play on ultra with GOOD frames while it can. I've had this laptop for several months now so I think I can give my opinion on it.

List of games I play and settings:
Overwatch: Medium
Battlefield 1: Ultra
League of Legends: Maxed
Black Desert Online: Everything low/Optimization mode.
Fallout 4: All maxed.

The laptop plays games like a champ, I had a desktop computer with a gtx750ti and I needed to buy a laptop to take on the go with me since I was about to start traveling, I love asus stuff and never had any problems with their customer service or anything so when I saw this laptop I wanted to get it.

Man this thing blew my desktop away, granted it was like 5 years old with a 2 year old gpu I think? But this thing can handle any games I play at 1080p and CAN max out anything except my mmorpg game but like no one can max that game out and get good frames.

Cons: I'm not sure if this is a common thing with gaming laptops but if I don't have the laptop plugged in, games with drop FPS HARD. I'm talking playing a simple game like LoL and trying to figure out why my screen is lagging and its because my battery is at like 20% So I think I have to keep it plugged in constantly while gaming.

The HEAT. This thing gets HOT. It gets to the point where if I'm typing in numbers on that top row I can feel the heat coming from the keys strongly. The space above the keys gets too hot to touch, like I can't keep my fingers on it, which again, may be normal and I'm just unaware but it kinda worries me that is heats up so much that it start going up into the screen. I believe this may have warped the frame around the screen on my bottom right side also, it appears to have popped out a little and it certainly wasn't my moving the laptop that caused it, I treat this thing with the best care. After saying all this, all these heat worries are all with a targus heatpad/fan thing that sits under the laptop, which sounds super loud in itself but I can't tell how much of a different it makes when gaming for more than 45 minutes or so.

The noise. It makes a good amount of noise, just enough for me to head it with headphones in.

The screen does seem a little off, from what other reviewers are saying I can assume it isn't just a defective screen, this is how it was made I guess.

I can't tell if its my fat hand or this touchpad but its position is just too close to my hand when I have my fingers on WASD playing an FPS, after months it still occasionally happens that my palm will touch pad and it will mess with my aiming with the mouse and sometimes mess me up. a rare and minor inconvenience

Also load times for things feel slow on this laptop. I definitely need to buy an M2 SSD and install it because it just feels sluggish.

Other Thoughts: Look overall this thing is capable of maxing most games in 1080p for a short amount of time for me. I'll find that after playing overwatch on max settings for about 30 to 45 minutes the laptop gets SUPER hot and I think that is the cause of the frames going down around the same time. I don't know a ton about computers but thats my little theory.

I love asus but I don't know if I would buy this specific laptop again and I'm a bit hesitant to recommend this to someone especially if they don't buy an awesome laptop cooling pad. Seriously I can't emphasize this heat thing enough. If my laptop burned out tomorrow I'd just think the heat finally killed it.

Great VR Laptop. Runs Raw Data with no issues

Pros: I love the design and feel of this laptop. It is a lot thinner than I thought it would be, which is amazing considering what they fit into it. You don't usually see that with the other gaming laptops. I have been able to run games like battlefield 1 in ultra with around 50FPS which is great.

Now for VR (Which is why I bought it)

I am using the HTC VIVE (Which is the most amazing thing I have ever used. Watching videos of it online does it no justice).

Now if you are going to buy this for use with the HTC VIVE I have some very important things you will need to know. (Think this applys to most of the ROG Laptops not just this one) The HDMI Port on the laptop is not directly connected to the GPU. So when you plug in the HTC VIVE using the default HDMI port, the headset will crash after a few minutes in the game. This is something not experienced on a desktop because you plug directly into the GPU. After research and trying it myself I found that you will have to use the MINI DISPLAYPORT. The Mini Displayport is connected directly to the GPU in the laptop. After buying an adapter for Mini Displayport to HDMI, The HTC VIVE worked flawlessly without crashing.

Yes I understand you can change the settings on the computer to only use the GPU but it does not work on this computer.

With that DON'T FORGET TO UPDATE YOUR GRAPHICS DRIVER!!!!!!. You have to do this on the ASUS ROG Website. Your VR will be super glitchy and crash the computer if you do not.

Cons: Why can I not use the HDMI port for VR? That is really it I was going crazy trying to figure out how to make it work and no one had a straight answer online. This should be a con for almost all laptops because I think it is common. But don't let this stray you because the HTC does have a Mini Displayport if you just want to buy a cable.

Other Thoughts: Yes this Laptop is well worth it for any type of gaming.

A Portable Powerhouse

Pros: - Great Gaming/Editing Performance
- Very light and thin
- G-Sync

Cons: - Bloatware
- Screen leaves much to be desired, some back-light bleeding.
- Slow Boot, (Can be fixed if you install your OS on an M.2)
- Battery is a little below average, but that is the case with most gaming laptops
- Gets warm when under load, but not too hot. If you're gonna game with this, don't do it on your lap. (Unless you're a fan of sweaty thighs!)

Other Thoughts: Anything more than a GTX 1060 is overkill for 1080p gaming on a notebook. If your looking for a Desktop replacement or simply want to game on the go, you can't go wrong with this laptop. It gives performance on par (if not slightly better) than a desktop with a GTX 970. It has PLENTY of power for 1080p, 60 fps gaming at ULTRA settings on most titles.

DISCLAIMER: The GTX 10** Series mobile graphics chips are said to be "equivalent in power to the desktop chips". This is slightly misleading. The margin in performance is really small but it does exist. They tend to be around 5-10fps slower.

Great for the money!

Pros: Excellent gaming performance. Plays a pretty intensive game like Forza on ultra with no problem at all.
Looks awesome.
Light weight and very thin.
Good speakers, although I usually use headphones anyways.

Cons: Runs hot, very hot sometimes. The fans also get pretty loud under heavy usage.
It only has a dual jack for headphones and mic instead of two separate jacks.
