Compact stick design. Plugs discreetly right into the HDMI port. Great for wall-mounted TVs.
1,000+ entertainment channels and counting. By far the most movies, sports, news, music and kids' shows of any streaming player.
Control with remote or mobile. You can choose to control your entertainment via your iOS or Android device. Or use the included remote that everybody can share. It's your choice.
Send to TV from mobile. Use mobile apps, such as Netflix and YouTube, to cast videos from your phone straight to your TV.
Stunning HD video quality. Immerse yourself in the action with rich, vibrant video streaming up to 1080p HD.
Pros: I purchased this specifically for 5 Ghz band. I own multiple Chromecasts but the 2.4 Ghz band in my area is so clogged they have a hard time staying up and getting a solid stream.
This thing on 5 Ghz is awesome. Every stream is perfect given the 5Ghz band ability allows me to be clutter free for wireless.
The ability to power it off my TV USB port was a requirement. The small form factor was a requirement.
I've had a Roku 1 1080P and Roku 2 1080P. Both of them had firmware hiccups that'd require a reboot every once in a while. While that may still be the case, given this thing powers on/off with the TV I've had zero issues. It's solid!
The ability to easily push things similar to a Chromecast is important and it handles this without fail.
Right now they are in a league of their own with 5 GHz. I have an Ouya, Logitech Revue, Vizio CoStar, Sony Bluray + Google TV, multiple Roku's. This is the ONLY 5 GHz thing ont he market right now (well or another Roku 3). That to me is the defining factor in this things success.
Cons: It takes about 60 seconds to boot. In comparison the Chromecast takes about 30 seconds.
Overall Review: I love the input method of the Chromecast so with Roku having the ability for me to load Plex on my tablet and push it to the Roku it's great. However it's not quite like Chromecast. It seems Chromecast almost runs background services for various apps such as Netflix or Plex. I use those two in tandem like a religion.
With the chromecast you simply load whatever you want on the tablet and find the device. It will figure out how to load what you want by what you push. In order for me to find Plex with my tablet I must open Plex on the Roku, then I can push things to/from it. It's a small nuisance but it's still not quite as easy/fluid as the Chromecast.
Pros: Faster than Roku 1
Better remote, works via RF or bluetooth, doesn't need to "see" main unit
Hidden from sight
Cons: Needs full time external power or unit fully re-boots every time it starts up. USB power from back of TV can supply power, but the power there shuts when the TV shuts, thus full ROKU reboot. I ran a cord from a full time power outlet and now problem is solved. This is something to be aware of. Apparently some TVs have enough power from the HDMI alone to power the stick independently and I have no idea how that power setup affects the reboot situation
Overall Review: I am pleased with the purchase, it allows me to have the unit function as a Time Warner cable TV box without the $10 monthly box rental fee. I am used to the operation as I already had a ROKU XS.
Pros: Shipping Very Fast, USPS completed the delivery Sunday morning! Works as advertised, Supports Amazo* Prime well, connected to my WiFi with very good throughput once I learned the secret, no pauses or picture jumps at all.
Cons: Connecting to WiFi was tricky. I tried every combination I could think of and finally hit on something that worked FOR ME! I selected hide password once I entered the password but before I entered the submit command. It worked once and I have not retried it because it worked and has stayed connected since then through many on/off cycles.
Overall Review: I would recommend this for my best friend. If you have a problem connecting to WiFi, try my approach listed above, it works for me.

Pros: please everything you want in stunning high definition no blurry pictures or video degradation on my network 25 down 6 up speed although I'm willing to bet it would work speeds as low as 6 down and 1 up but I cant tell you for sure
Cons: not very fast but it's also not very slow at loading apps if you're looking for something that's fast get a Roku 3 which is also available refurbished at the time of posting this
Pros: It has a remote control and doesn't require a tablet or phone to run it. Plex software for DLNA streaming is available and works very well. Easy menu navigation. Fast.
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: I have a Chromecast, and often, my phone or tablet's Netflix and Plex clients can't see it on the network -- major pain. Having the remote is awsome. I don't use the Chromecast 'cast' feature much, so I don't miss it on the Roku.
Great Product, For Being Refubished12/18/2015 6:43:07 AM
Pros: - Works great right out of the box.
- Very simple and easy to use interface.
- Small and compact, so easy to take with you on trips.
Cons: - I've found is sometimes it takes awhile to connect to a wireless system, even with the wireless system being next to it.
- The remote stops responding at times.
Overall Review: - It is a great device for those that do a lot of traveling. I got this for my girlfriend as she lives four hours away and we tend to meet at half way points sometimes, if we don't go to each others location. This is the perfect gift for the purpose of being able to enjoy an evening of shows and movies, without the need of bringing along a computer.
Pros: We were attracted to the price and have had good experience with other Roku products.
Cons: Sort of worked, to begin with. 90 days later its dead, for the most part. Sorta worked but did not pick up the house wireless signal and frequently drops programming. The refurb is disappointing. Second one no better than the first, as though they just tossed it in a different box and sent it out again.
Cons: Remote worked for set-up, stopped working as soon i clicked on netflix app, i use roku on my phone.
It very slow compare to my Roku 3
I hate set-up requiring credit card, completely unnecessary. I pay netflix directly, I don't understand why roku need my credit card info.
Overall Review: I wish roku was simple plug and play. the whole go to your computer and register is complete waste of time.
