Pros: Switch has nothing wrong with it -- but I have noticed something important with LARGE files and MULTIMEDIA -- In short, use a direct cable if you need a QUICK solution. More expensive hub/switches may be necessary perhaps one with a buffer.
Cons: I have had problems using my NAS with ANY KIND of inexpensive network hub, blocks are lost and programs will seize up unless I use a special DIRECT CABLE between the network card in the computer and the NAS port. It isn't common knowledge to use this type of cable - it's like a standard patch cable, but with the tx/rx pairs reversed on one side (null modem style). THIS TOTALLY SOLVED MY PROBLEMS, and people should be aware of this as an option.
Overall Review: I had updated ALL my related drivers and software (NUMEROUS, by the way), and all to NO AVAIL until I removed the hub from the equation. I updated my NIC driver, my hub driver, my NAS firmware, the version of the multimedia software, my disc imaging software, my ASPI drivers, EVERYTHING!!!! Going direct was the only solution.
