I have one of those ceilings with panels... I think its called a "false ceiling" will this product work with that?

You need something stronger than just the regular false ceiling panel to hold up the projector.  We used 2x4's to create a stronger structure just above the panel that anchored to the structure that holds up the false ceiling, drilled two holes through the panel and the 2x4 and bolted the mount to that.  That way the false ceiling doesn't carry the extra weight of the projector and mount.

Can it be mounted in reverse - from the floor UNDER the projector?  I have a tripod stand but need to add swivle feature.

Yes. The unit contains 2 pieces: one piece mount on the projector and the other on either the ceiling, wall, or,  floor. Then you lock them together. It's a solid unit.
