Does this work with a Asus lap top?

yes, it works fine with all computers. the best part is that it has a auto shut off timer for inactivity. it saves power and it's light.

Is there an on/off switch to conserve Batt life?

No there isn't. I used to keep it in my backpack, and would have to take the batteries out before putting it in. The mouse also goes off automatically and requires you to click to get it working again from idle. I recommend getting a different mouse (I recently bought a bluetooth one to replace this one).

Some of the mice company's specify win. xp, vista etc. Will this work with Win. 8.1?

Yes it does,  I use it with win 7 and 8.1.

Doe's this mouse have an on/off switch to save battery life when not in use, or do I have to remove the batteries?

The mouse does not have an on/off switch but it will "go to sleep" when it hasn't been in use for a while.  You have to click the button to "wake it up" similar to a computer's power saving mode.

Approximately 3”L x 2”W x 1"h.  It fits nicely in your hand and travels well.  I have taken this mouse around the world twice with my laptop.  Works well and battery life is excellent.  Of course being a rounded shape my size statement is only approximate.

What type of battery does this mouse use? 2 AAA or 1 AA

It uses 2 AAA batteries. For my experience, it never gives us any trouble and the batteries last quite a long time. Not sure about the maximum range but within 8 ft it seems to work fine.

Does it work on Mac?

I have no idea. It's a standard "microsoft" two button USB mouse.

1) Dunno if it even has a built-in firmware driver the Mac can use.
2) Don't have a Mac handy to test it on.

Will this work with an HP Chromebook?

I believe the HP Chromebook is a notebook computer and as of such would recognize a mouse.  However, having never used a chromebook I can not speak with absolute certainity.  If the windows system on the chromebook is set up to use a mouse I believe this should work.

Is there a way to make the mouse stop changing dpi when left and right click buttons are held down?

I would love to answer you quesstion but I purchased this for a customer of mine and so have no actual experience with it.  However, I am not sure why you would want to hold both buttons down at the same time.  If you are doing it to highlit something you can do the same thing by just holding down the left button.  You might try looking up on Youtube.  Sometimes they have solutions posted.

So I'm assuming if this is put in a lap top bag that the batteries need to be removed so it wont get the buttons pushed and keep turning on?

No, just turn the mouse off.
Also remove the USB receiver, and store in in the mouse.
