Does it come with a hard drive for recording and what is HD sold separately?

No Hard Drive included. (HD) Hard Drive sold separately. I bought am using just a old 500gb SATA I had laying around. Seems to last and I have had no issues with not enough storage space.

Question 2

So, since it is 8 channels, but only come with 4 cameras, does that mean I can add 4 more later?  Sorry, I'm new to camera systems.

Yes, I purchased the additional 4 and a 1TB HDD and with overnight freight the whole setup still came in under $500. We have had it on our dealership for a few months with no issues. Is working great and the cams are halfway decent.

Where could i purchase longer cables?

Hi Alan, I not sure. My first step would be to contact Rosewill directly and find out the type of wire and the limitations on the system. The length of the cable might limit the quality of the video.
