What is the lower temperature range of the cameras? Ok for outdoor use in the winters in the northeast?

Theses cameras are label as weather proof and meant to be used outdoors. I still prefer to put them under and overhang for additional protection because Im paranoid but they have a shield on top as you can see from the photos so I wouldn't worry about it. Ive have 8 similar cameras up for 3 and a half years and its gotten as low as -24 F here. I have had to replace 2 or 3 over the years but there was no evidence that their failure was caused by the weather. The danger in cold temps to electronics is the freezing of any moisture around the circuits but these are sealed so you should be fine.

What is the capacity of the DVR? Must you use an external hard drive to use this system?

It does not come with a hard drive nor does it support an external HDD. You have to open the case and install a regular HDD. Don't let that scare you. It's an easy 5 minute job. Only a Phillips screwdriver required. You can use any SATA HDD. SATA cable is included inside the case. I believe the max HDD capacity is 2TB per drive. There are 2 SATA slots on the board. So you can have up to (2) 2TB drives.

If you set it to record continuously with 4 cameras, 2 TB gives you more than 30 days of storage.

I have 3 of these. No complaints for the price.

Can you tell me how this camera system handles power outages?  Does it have to be reset or does it come back up when power is restored?
