what and where is the power source for the optional 120x120 fans?

There isn't one. I picked up an external fan controller and they're doing the trick.

Are the vertical mounting rails adjustable from front to back? I need to mount a switch and patch panel with enough clearance for using short patch cords and still be able to close door. Both switch and patch panel are only 6" deep.

Yes. The vertical rails adjust to between 15.5 and 16 inches front to back.

Does it come assembled?

Yes it does. My unit came with assembly instructions from Rosewill but the unit was already completely put together. I just slid it out of the box and was good to go.
