I have a laptop hardrive. It is the same size as an SSD. I was wondering if it would fit inside securely and not move around?

I replaced my HDD with a new SSD. The original HDD fits securely in the Rosewill external case with no looseness or moving about. The best feature is the ease of installing or removing the drive which requires no tools plus the integral USB cable is handy.

Question 2

I a old computer(dos, floppy disk) on a engine dyno and I'm converting over to a newer computer.  I want to get the old files off the old computer and transfer to new.  Will I be able to put the old hard drive in the enclosure and do this?

This enclosure can only take a SATA hard disk.  I am not sure how old your computer is, but older PC usually use IDE hard disks.  if I were you, I would first find out the type of Hard disk first, before purchasing this enclosure.

I have an Hitachi Deskstar- SATA 3.0  500gb  Model HDP725050GLA360 - will it fit this enclosure?  thanks

The drive you ask about appears to be a 3.5" desktop drive.  If so, the answer is no.  The enclosure is designed to hold a 2.5" notebook drive.

Can the enclosure be compatible with Seagate Constellation 2.5" 1TB hard disk (2.75 in x 3.95 in x 0.591 in) where the screw hole are located near the lower edges of the drive? Thanks.

Screw hole location is irrelevant and shouldn't be a problem.

is it backwards compatible with USB 2.0?

Yes. It's compatible. Note that some USB 2.0 hub may have enough power though.

Question 6

Has anyone tried putting a 2TB drive in this enclosure?  I know the specs say up to 1.5TB, but I still wanted to ask.

I used an SSD and therefore don't have a 2 TB drive in it. Since it technically is only a subsystem enclosure I see no reason why you shouldn't have access to the full capacity of the drive. That being said, it would be dependent upon whatever OS that is accessing the drive, and the limitations of that and the partition type it was formatted for: E.g GPT vs MBT.

Does this work with XP operating system?

Yes, depending upon the hardware you have, you  might not get the full USB 3.0 speed. Why are you still running xp?

Question 8

I had to remove a seagate Momentus Thin hard drive from my laptop because it developed a boot error.  Will this enclosure allow me to recover the data from it?  Thanks

I've used a few of these - you can't recover data if the hard drive is damaged, but if the hard drive isn't damaged, you should be able to access all the data on it.

There is also software available that can help recover data, but no guarantees, although this external would help you access the hard drive with the software.

Hope that helps - been through a few of these and every one was a godsend for me.

The drive itself is good, but the connection has gone bad and I want to replace the enclosure.  Will this it fit in this rosewill enclosure?
