That depends on the USB port it is connected to.
If the USB port is under powered, or the HDD are power hungry 7.2K or any 10K HDD, you "might" have issues.
Example, most laptop USB ports share the 500mAmp power bandwidth across multiple components.
SSD, so far even the older tech that was less sufficient, or the new souped up screamers (read: runs hotter due to power requirement have han NO issues booting up, AS LONG as the BIOS will pass through enough power and boot option.
Have an old winXP tower that will not boot, but runs my only 7.2K 2.5" drive just fine. A 60 Amp single rail power supply with sine wave UPS battery backup eliminates any power issues.
Some USB ports are not only under powered, but the motherboards are already starving for power on the mass produced PC's. YMMV.

Your question is can not be answered without more information. Why are you hooking it up to that satellite service? What are you using it for? What kind of connections go into the satellite box? HDMI/USB? Does the box even allow you to record from it onto anything other than the internal HD?

NOTE: The instructions included with the unit DO NOT MENTION OS X COMPATIBILITY, only Windows XP/Vista/7/8, so you're on your own with troubleshooting IF you encounter any errors.

But apparently YES. I qualify that because I've successfully completed setup for Time Machine backup. I have not tried a full restore. I'm using it as a RAID1 array, so I have no way of knowing how or if it will work with any other switch setting (2LUN, JBOD, or RAID0) or other app use.

I followed the included instructions to insert the two brand new HGST Travelstar HTS721010A9E630 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm drives (Newegg Item 22-245-881), set the switch to RAID1, then power-on the unit while holding the Reset button.

Then I plugged it into the right-side USB 3 port of my mid-2014 13" retina MacBook Pro (8GB RAM/250GB SSD) running OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite.

OS X immediately recognized the drive as uninitialized, and opened Disk Utility, offering to initialize it.

There IS a RAID setup tab within OS X Disk Utility, but because the drive already has a RAID1 hardware switch position, I did not use the Disk Utility option for RAID.

RAID1 means that the drives are mirrored, with the total capacity being the capacity of the smaller drive, if two drives of unequal size are used. Since my drives are identical, the total capacity displayed was 1TB. The USB3-attached enclosure appears as 1TB Jmicron Corp Media in Disk Utility.

Using the Partition tab, I set one partition, full capacity, Mac OS X Extended (Journaled). The formatted capacity of the visible partition is 999.86 GB. There is a hidden EFI partition of 209.7MB visible when viewing About This Mac, More Info, USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Bus, "Usb production" device description.

The first Time Machine backup of the full 125GB contents of the MacBook Pro to the array completed in 31 minutes, an average speed of 4GB per minute. Opening Time Machine showed one backup available to restore from, and I successfully restored one deleted file as a test.

I've read some reviews on other products about USB3 enclosure not working properly when connected to USB2 port.  Has anyone experienced any issue when this enclosure is connected to a USB2 port?

Yes, the speed decrease is noticeable! I have only one PC with a USB3 native, I really appreciate the speed increase of USB3.
This case is great for cloning HDD, no caddies to mess with.
You will need to use the "Y" cable to get enough power to spin up a plater drive. The three SSD's did not need the extra power on a USB2. On my powered PCIe card the old spinners are recognized without the secondary USB power, but the card does have the full .9 mA per port. Some laptops choke at .5 mA even on USB3, especially the ultra light types to save energy.

I don't see any reason why not. This is a generic mass storage device. If your OS has USB 3.0 working, this will work.

Yes, all modes in Windows 10. However, you cannot just switch between modes. You have to reformat the drives if you switch between striping and mirroring.

Not sure if Xbox one is USB 3, but this is not fast if you set it up as a simple dual lettered disc drives.
I use it to just transfer SSD drives between off site PC's and local backup.
It works but if you only need one drive you have cheaper options, but the RX200R is much more flexible.
