Pros: I built two systems using; Intel SC5520HC, two Xeon E5520, Intel BXSTS100A heat sinks, and Super Talent OX FTM16GL26H 2.5” 16 GB SDD, ALL from NewEgg. I used 24 GB Kingston KVR1066D3E7SK3/6GI unbuffered ECC DIMMs DDR3 1066Mhz memory, which is very economical and is the fastest memory the E5520 processer can use plus it’s on the Intel approved list. I also used the Intel SC5650DP chassis approved for the SC5520HC MOB. The build went flawless and quick. The Intel Quick Start Guides were excellent and tells you step by step how everything connects and integrates between the chassis and MOB. NewEgg’s order processing and shipping is very fast and they keep you informed via e-mail every step of the way.
Cons: You need to update the MOB BIOS which also integrates the MOB with the chassis. No big deal really.
Overall Review: When I first started up the system, the chassis fan speed was full blast. The Intel Quick Start Guide tells you to update the MOB BIOS which also integrates the MOB with the chassis. After that process, the fan speed settled down to nice and quiet. With the high MTBF of the SSD, I only used one and because I’m running VMware ESX with iSCSI SAN storage, I didn’t require much local storage. The SSD is very fast which allows ESX to boot very fast. The system rocks and I’m ready for ESX 4.
