Does it come with mounting and cable?

This SSD is an OEM, which means it does not come with mounting and the cable. However, the cable is a standard SATA power and data cables. The mounting bracket is very inexpensive and can be purchased from Newegg. The mounting bracket can hold up to two SSD's, which is why I purchased two of them because I fully intend to purchase additional SSDs.

my understanding is that this samsung 750 evo comes with the software included. It shipped w/ drive only- is the software actually loaded into the drive? I'm somewhat confused,thnx.

No. The two Samsung 750 Evo SSDs do not come with software.  All modern operating systems will recognize the drive and do not require extra software.  I'm running mine in Windows 7, Linux and Mac OS X.  If needed, you can download free Magician iutility soeftware from Samsung's website,

Is this 3D drive?

All drives are "3D Drives."  Data be Data, almost.   It depends on how long or how slow you want or can write/stream the data.  Oh, what is your cash flow?  The interface is everything i.e,, PCI-E  or M.2 etc.

Will this work in a 13" macbook pro A1278 mid 2012?  And what extra part(s) will I need to purchase in order to replace the existing drive?

I din't used it for Mac but for a Windows Laptoo.but The One I took from my Window did work on my daughter's  Mac Book. One terabyte HHD.

Contrary to what the purchase page indicates, this drive is TLC, not MLC.  I have contacted newegg about removing the erroneous information but they have declined to do so.

Will this drive fit into an HP dv6636dr Pavilion Laptop.  I need to replace my old hard drive?

Yes, it can.  Your laptop take a 9.5mm hard drive (HD) with bracket. Most HDs and SSDs are 7mm.  You may need to use the existing bracket on your current HD or get another.   I have mine in the 7mm drive bay of a Dell e7440 laptop and so did not need a bracket.  Check your maintenance and service guide on the HP support web site.

What is the difference between this and the 850 evo, I can't seem, to understand?

Uses planar TLC NAND chips that lower cost with a bit less endurance, other performance and specs so close to 850 that you wont notice a difference.
