any issues getting this into MacBook Pro 15in ?

Works well in a Late 2011 17 Quad MBP and a Mid 2011 Quad MacMini. It's quite a lot thinner than the original drives so you do need to ensure it's screws down tight so it won't come loose and rattle around. Or you can use a spacer to get it back to original height and keep it snug. FYI, I keep my power settings to switch off the screen but not let the mac put the drives to sleep even when on battery. I've found that all my SSDs prefer that setting - I've used Intel, Crucial and Samsung drives in this same laptop. I've not noticed any significant drop in battery life - but most of the time I'm on a power cable anyway.

Question 2

Are these drives compatible with Mac Pro 4,1's (early 2009 model)? Are they TRIM-enabled out of the box?

Thomas, I used 4 of these in an internal RAID setup in my early 2009 Mac Pro (upgraded to 5,1). I had already upgraded and used 1333 mhz RAM and better processors when I added the Samsung's, so I cannot guarantee they work in 4,1, but they work well in my current setup. I would suggest a google search of the TRIM question. I recall discussion on the web. I have SoftRAID, but prefer using the RAID utility to create the software RAID. That utility goes away after Yosemite, so I have avoided upgrading the OS. Sorry for only a partial answer.

Could this be used in an imac 27" computer. 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, late 2009?

It may need an adapter to fit inside properly since it is a 2.5" form factor. This item is intended for laptops, so the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter should work for the drive. It should wire in fine since it is SATA.

what is the difference between the evo and pro versions?

The pro version is slight faster than the evo, depending on the task could be up to 20% faster, or completely irrelevant like 1 or 2%.
Average should be about 5-10% faster. 
Evo = Value
Pro = Premium

Question 5

I only have and only use Linux.  So far never had an issue with any SSD during initial setup, but it sounds like this one might need special software that is Windows/Mac only.  Is that the case?

I have installed this on 3 Macs and several Linux systems.  I do not use windows other than a VM on my mac.

As for the mac is was pretty easy.

You will need to create a bootable USB for the mac

Just time machine backup the mac
install the new disk
Book the computer from the USB,
Format the disk 
the USB also has restore option from time machine
then just wait for the restore to finish 
When it finishes the mac will reboot to the new SSD

Not even a question; I've done so for all my kids -- each has said I've given their laptops new life.  I merely give them my smaller drives (250MB, 500MB) when I upgrade to larger drives.  I used OCZ until I met the Samsung (Pro or EVO) -- still a fan of OCZ, but Samsung has best performance overall.

My understanding is that yes, SATA is backward compatible in general, and will negotiate the fastest speed that both ends of the connection can support.

Question 9

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 13. Is this compatible? Is there an "easy" way to transfer all my contents from the existing 500gb drive to this one?

Robin. I don't believe you can use it. The Yoga 2 13 uses an m.2 type 2280 sad drive. I have the same type in my yoga 900. You may want to double check but I am pretty sure it won't work.

Question 10

It is described as a "vertical" internal SSD.  Does this mean it has to sit verticaly in a desktop?  Does this mean u can't install it in a laptop?  I have read coments on vertical vs horizontal orientation of hard drives (both HDD & SSD) and there appears to be strong opinions no definite conclusions based on data.  In summary why is it called a "VERTICAL" drive?

"Vertical" only describes the internal architecture of the memory cells within the chip itself.  You can run this drive in ANY orientation without worry.
