What is the operating temperature of this machine? I want to use transfer paper but it has to run under 400 degrees F. I can't find this information anywhere.

I can't find temperature info in the manual, but it does say, "Make sure not to use the inkjet photo paper with this machine. It could cause damage to the machine. Using inflammable print media can cause a fire." Yet it lists glossy photo paper and transparencies under printable media.  Maybe this info can help you narrow down the temperature range.

Question 2

It seems to be common for printers to include starter toner cartridges.  If that is the case with this model, what is the print capacity of the cartridges that are included?  A set of OEM replacement cartridges cost way more than the price of the printer so I'm wondering how much time I have before I get hit with another significant expense.

Michael, I don't use the printer heavily, so still using the factory provided cartridges. Printer has performed well.
To your question, according to Samsung specifications, the yield for the factory cartridges is 1000 pages for Black/700 for Colors. The regular cartridges are advertised as 2500 pages for Black/1800 pages for Colors (Declared cartridge yield in accordance with ISO / IEC 19798). More info on the specifications section at Samsung.

Can I send a file directly from my Android Smart Phone or tablet, (via Wi-Fi or blue tooth) and get this printer to print the file? -- without having to send it via an 'e' mail to my desk top, and then have it printed ?

You can use Samsung Mobile Print on your android smart phone/tablet or the NFC sensor on the printer itself. to transfer what you want to print.

Works pretty well.
