Yes, this phone is should be very easy to root since freedompop includes the Team Win  Restore tools on the phone. This makes it easy to backup the original partitions which is the first the you do before rooting. And it should make it easy to install rooted images from a SD card. But please research this carefully before proceeding!!!!!!!

If the number is all you care about but not who the mobile service provider is, then the answer is yes. You can carry over your Tmobile number to FreedomPop. To be sure, that means you'll have the phone number you want, but the service provider will no longer be T-mobile.

It is not "locked" to FreedomPop but it primarily works onyl with CDMA carrier networks, So it can work with a Sprint SIM but not T-mobile [out of the box]. They are capable of being unlocked but it does not come unlcoked.
