Do I need a 3d tv for this? Will the unit play music cd's?

I have not used it for playing music cd, however, most dvd players do play Music CD's and MP3 CD's. As for 3D tv, you should not need a 3D tv, but you will need to buy very expensive glasses. They are about $30-50 a pair. Also, the general quality of this player is not very good. The Radio Tuner is very bad. You can get a better one at a dollar store. I tried to send it back, but Newegg refused it.

The specifications say that this has an HDMI input, however I can't find it on the pictures.  Is that not the unit in the pictures, or does it not have an HDMI input?

Wow. I'm surprised that they forwarded this request to me. I asked them to take the system back, but they declined. I've been a shopper at NewEgg for many years, and they finally have become desperate enough to start burning customers.

You are correct. There is no HDMI Input. Also, the HDMI CEC does not work with Vizio TV's.

The is not a quality system, and if you want to use the 3D functionality, you will need to buy some very expensive glasses ($40 and up). The sound is barely adequate, and you can forget about using the AM/FM Tuner. The tuner is so poorly designed that you will do better at a Dollar Store. The bass is very light and disappointing. It does have some applications like Netflix, but you will need to physically wire it to your router. No wireless. The remote buttons are not well organized, and it's easy to hit the wrong button. It says that it will play many formats of videos, but I can't get any of them play from my DLNA server.

I cannot recommend this product to anyone. Sorry

I have the wiring inside the wall and the way is wired is one pair from receiver/amplifier to the speaker/sub woofer. Is this system built the same? The receiver is the center, cause I have seen system that the sub woofer have the PA built in.

Hi Tom, all speakers and the subwoofer included are individually wired to the receiver (blu-ray player). You will get independent speaker wires for each speaker and another wire for the subwoofer like in the picture. It is color coded for easier wiring and the speakers/subwoofer are powered by the receiver/blu-ray player. This is my first HTIB and it is really to setup. I hope this answers your question.

How's the bass on the subwoofer? One of the reviews states its only mediocre.

The bass response is not that rich/deep. Probably because the freq. response of the subwoofer is around 40Hz. Other than that, it's a decent unit.

does this connect to wireless internet? or do i need an ethernet cord? or does it need an adaptor for it

Ethernet cable is the only way the dvd player connects with the internet. I'm sure if you are savvy enough, you could find another way you to rig it, but the player is intended to connect to the internet through a wired connection only. Considering this, a wired connection is the cheapest and easiest way to connect this player to the Internet.

Hi, i have a samsung 40 inch led tv and i bought this home theater. I tried setting it up. connected the hdmi cable from the blu ray to the tv and it played well with both video and audio. But when i swapped from blu ray to normal tv mode, the speakers didn't play at all. Please help me to set it up in a way so that it can also play from my normal tv. Do i need any additional setup?

Great question Karthick. It took me forever to get my TV audio playing through the speakers too. There are several steps to this which aren't really stated in the manual...

1) Make sure your HDMI cable is plugged into your TV's ARC (audio return channel) port. Not all HDMI ports support ARC, so the one(s) that do are usually labeled.
2) Set your TV's audio to run through the blu-ray
3) Turn on your TV's CEC (consumer electronics control) feature. Each technology vendor tends to call this by a different name. (Simplink for LG, Anynet+ for Samsung, etc...)
4) Set your blu-ray to accept ARC audio from the TV
5) Turn on your blu-ray's CEC feature (Anynet+)
6) Put the blu-ray on "D. In'' mode and/or press the little white TV audio button on the remote if it doesn't kick in automatically
