Dose the printer work if color ink is out?  The espon I have now won't receive fax's because am out of color ink. The replacements would cost more than the all in one printer.

Hello Barbara.  It will work, but you will notice that the blurriness of the print.  In addition to the note, if you keep using the empty ink toner or cartridge, it might damage to your printer.  It is wise to replace the ink cartridge or toner if it shows the low ink or low toner sign.  I know that the cost of cartridge or toner is kind of pricey. is this all in one momochrome dose is it wireless. Samsung ml-2545?

No Ma'am, it is NOT wireless capable, and it is not all in one.  It IS a laser printer (not an inkjet), single toner cartridge only.  It does not scan, but it will print single sheet paper inserted at the paper feed slot located above the paper tray (front), handy for specialized paper.
So far it has been a good reliable printer, although it does not get as much use as it should/could handle.

how to open paper tray?

The paper tray has a finger groove at the bottom front of the printer frame (case).  Rotate your hand so your four fingers are pointing upward, insert them into the finger groove and gently pull forward.  Make sure the shipping tape has been removed as per included instructions.
