Pros: I just bought this to replace an almost new Pioneer 112D that was a piece of junk. So far, I am very impressed with this new Samsung SH-202G. It is a short case unit which would make it an easy fit in smaller computer cases. I ran the full battery of Nero CD/DVD test on it for speed, write quality and so forth and the scores were simply excellent. I've never seen better scores ... I used Verbatim CDs for the test. This drive may be the quietest optical drive I've owned. I am impressed.

Cons: None yet ... and given the obvious quality of build and performance on the tests that I ran I am hopeful there will be no problems for a good long time. Time will tell.

Overall Review: I'll be back if something troublesome pops up but if I'm keeping this burner on my very short list of desirable CD/DVD burners. NewEgg delivery was fast and the item was well packed. Love NewEgg.

Pros: As the other reviewer said, stick with quality media, I use memorex 16x -R and burns with no errors ever. Owned a Lite-on but switched to Samsung as the other reviewer said Samsung has stepped up. Now own DLP tv, DVR, and this burner from Samsung, never any problems, HIGH quality.

Overall Review: DOES NOT LIKE GARBAGE MEDIA This drive and my SH-S202N will very quickly determine and eject a "budget" disc (i.e. Matrix) Ridata is borderline. My 8x Ridata dual layer are burned at 4x speed with both these Samsungs. My Lite-On drive will burn the Matrix dual layer and all indications is that it was a successful burn, but disc is not playable. Use quality media. It may seem expensive, but how many shiny, little coasters with a hole in the middle do you need?

Pros: Fast with a variety of media! My Plextor PX716As (I have two in good condition) became my favorite burners above about 5 different other manufacturers' in as many years, but they are now a little slow by today's standards. I recently tried an LG - horrible layer breaks on dual layer discs. LG drive actually stops for several seconds before starting second layer and produces a weird pause effect when played back. Lite-On drive I recently purchased does a beautiful job with LightScribe discs, but doesn't burn quite as fast (even with Verbatim) media as I'd Like. THIS SAMSUNG drive burns various mmedia extremely fast. It is by far my top drive so far (we'll see about longevity).

Cons: Wish it had LightScribe, but I didn't want to wait for that one.

Overall Review: Don't hesitate to purchase. Drive arrived and Manufacturer is referred to as Toshiba/Samsung. Sounds like a plus to me.
