Question 1

Can you link a second camera of the same type to view another room? I have 2 children who sleep in separate rooms and I would like to see them both at the same time from the same app.

The answer is yes. Both cameras (that I have) are connected to a Verizon FIOS WIFI Router. The interface  Samsung- web based
 allows you to view both cameras. You cant view both at the same time! This is something Samsung needs to improve. So you can view your kids room just one at a time, I use an Android phone to arm and disarm events. The camera view is really good. Microphone works as specified have not tried speaker but look at You Tube reviews. So if you mount these high and have good WIFI router and service you will have excellent results. The setup was very straight forward. I used Motorola Home Sight till they went out of business. I used FOSACAM wireless cams and they are a nightmare to configure- I am a former IT guy! Samsung blows both away. I have not used SD card for recording but Picasa link and mobile alerts work! Go buy them, if you don't like you can always return. As you can see by my response, these are great and no monthly fees because you are monitoring your home. Good Luck. JR

Can this camera be placed outside? It was totally useless trying to shoot through a window or even a screen. The reflection cancelled the 
picture. Will it withstand the heat and cold ?

Unfortunately I tried doing the same thing and your right using this type of camera for outside surveillance use is useless. I definitely would not recommend this camera outside as it would not survive the heat and cold over a long period of time. If you are looking for outside surveillance cameras I would look for other alternatives (Seekout "outside weather proof cameras").

Please let me know how the camera is functionioning for internal use. Do you like the SmartCam  Samsung App? Any feed back is apppriciated.

Does this device need to be plugged in through an ethernet cable or does it work through my wifi internet?

It doesn't need to operate with a network cable. It is wireless.
But for initial setup... it has a WPS button which allows you to connect to your network easily without first connecting a network cable. However, this will only work if your router also has the WPS function. Otherwise, you have to connect a network cable until you setup the wifi connection through the setup process.

Can this be hard wirded with the Cat 5 so i don't need the power cord. Can it be ran like a POE camera?

Accepted Answer

This camera does not run on POE, but you could use a'POE Extractor to split power from data at the far end. The power requirement is 5v, 2.2a.  I was able to run it on a POE injector/extractor pair I have, which is labelled for 2.1a, so that would work with all the POE switches I know of.

If this camera is set up at my father's house in Florida, can I set to see it from my smart phone or labtop in Arizona?

Yes.  Basically the camera is setup by creating an account on a Samsung website.  From there you can monitor and configure the camera settings.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and have installed the SmartCam mobile app that allows you to monitor your camera from anywhere on your smart phone. From a laptop you would just login to the Samsung site and view your camera from there. We purchased ours to monitor our new puppy while we are away.  The camera allows for 2 way audio as well.  Hope this helps answer your question.

is this camera rated for outdoor use?

No I think it is strictly for indoor use. I do have it mounted looking out a window to the front of my house and gets great picture, even at night without the IR as long as there is a street light or other dim light around.

We are on hughesnet satellite. Can this be set to not stream? Record only on movement? Can camera and/or recording feature be turned on remotely from iphone, if we get signal of movement message? To save upload limits. Can recording be viewed remotely from iphone?

Camera can be set to record only on movement.
Settings can be changed remotely (app, website).
Yes, I set mine to alert on movement, then I can jump in via app/web and turn it off - for example if people come home from work and are active in the monitored room.
You can watch live or recorded from the web or apps.
You can also use a program like BlueIris to stream locally as well and store an enormous amount of data in addition to the memory card that you can purchase to add inside of the camera.

Can I watch a live video feed on my Windows 7 desktop computer at a  location different from the camera?

I've watched live video from different locations using the iphone app, the ipad app and Chrome and Firefox on a Macbook. I cannot answer specifically about Windows 7, but it should work in most browsers. A free plug-in may be required. If someone cannot answer about Windows 7, I suggest calling their customer service.

you will need: 1. Ethernet cable long enough to connect the cam and your modem. 2. If your wifi is too further away and signal is too weak, you will need a signal extender 3. you will need a pc to go online to set up the cam through Samsung software.

IS THIS CAMERA INTERIOR USE ONLY OR CAN IT TOLERATE THE OUTDOORS BUT COVERED?

This is an indoor camera, at least meant for such usage.
I purchasing a camera for exclusive outdoor usage, I'd probably opt for a model made for it.
It seems quite sturdy, but there are some 'air gaps' intentionally there in the chassis for cooling purposes, I assume.
If outdoor use, moisture could easily seep in, I think
