Does it come with keyboard? If not, what is Your recommendation?

It does not come with a keyboard. However there is a vast assortment of keyboards that can connect via USB, or combo wireless keyboard/mouse sets that are not expensive. However, you will be using the only USB connection on the tablet (or, if docked, the USB connection available on the dock).

I think a better alternative is to get a bluetooth keyboard, which doesn't use either of the USB ports, which you might need for other purposes. Again there is a wide assortment of either type of keyboard from full-size to tablet-size.

Windows 7/8/8.1 also have an on-screen keyboard, but of course this takes up valuable screen real estate, and lacks tactile feel.

Question 2

The pictures don't show it; does this ship with the stylus?

We ordered three of the Samsung Series 7 XE700T1A tablets and none of them came with a stylus.  Our IT department had a supply of some that work with this tablet.

Question 3

Has anyone had any trouble connecting to an Ethernet through the RJ-45 Lan Port?

Hi Robert.

I've purchased three of these from NE and have not had an insurmountable issue with internet connectivity.  Patience is a virtue with performing OS updates that span many months of OS history (Windows 7 launch to Windows 10 ). Sometimes, bites of 1/4 or 1/3 that are indicated yield the best results. Be Patient. Let them coalescence for a couple hours (that reduces HD activity). Check Belarc dot com for any that you've missed via Windows Update. This unit is both attractively priced and fully capable once running OS 10!

Question 4

How is the battery quality and capacity. Since they do not include the power supply has the battery been kept in condition or will it have a battery that only last a few minutes or will it have to be replaced soon after purchase?

Clarification, unit comes with 2 external power supplies + 1 docking station.  I purchased 2 tablets and both internal batteries seem healthy.  However, battery life when not plugged in may only be 2 hours.  This unit has powerful processors and produces stunning video but at the cost of power consumption.  Also, I reinstalled WIN10 and highly recommend on this tablet.  WIN10 has great tablet support.  I use my tablet to stream music while plugged in and stream video at the health club (on battery).  I can live with the battery limitations but if you need long battery life this is not the tablet for you.

Question 5

Does this come with the docking station seen in the photos, and is the free windows 10 upgrade available for this device?

Yes, a free upgrade to Windows 10 and the Docking is included. Owner must submit Email address from device for reservation confirmation. I've been using the dock, but have not upgraded Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit to Windows 10. Windows 7 Pro works well  with finger multi touch on the Samsung Series 7.

Question 6

My questions are:  1) What kind of SSD does this tablet come with (standard SATA 2.5 inch, M.2, M.SATA or what?  2) What kind of RAM (speed, latency) is installed?  3) Are the battery/batteries, SSD and RAM easily replaceable by the average user (in other words me) without needing any special tools or knowledge?  I've read all the specs, questions and answers posted and didn't see these addressed anywhere.  Thanks in advance for all the help!

I do not know have answers to the technical questions you pose, but I can say that I do not think it would be easy to open the unit to investigate.  Looking at the unit I see no screws or other ways to remove the shell to access the internals.  I expect access would require separating the screen from the case like is necessary with most tablets, and my impression is that making any modifications would be difficult at best, not knowing what is under the hood.  That said, it does have a micro SD slot so some memory expansion is available, and the unit itself has a USB port that I have used to connect a portable hard disk, not to mention possible thumb drive devices.  As far as I can tell the refurbished unit was stripped of all the original Samsung software and there is not an obvious way to access the built in camera.  I have looked on the Samsung web site and there is no support for Windows 10 on this device, so if you plan to upgrade to Win 10, you should see what original content you can get for the Win 7 version before upgrading.  All that said, I have been very happy with the unit, startup is fast, the unit is responsive, and unlike some hybrid laptops the screen changes orientation when you turn the unit.  I upgraded to Win 10 with no issues.  The battery life is about half the advertised 5+ hours, but again it is a refurb unit.  The docking station works well and provides an additional USB port.  The software keyboard works well, but I am currently using a wireless keyboard and mouse about half the time.  I am thinking about getting a blue tooth keyboard and using the Samsung pen as the mouse.  Again, I am happy with this purchase for what I had in mind, but I would say it is not upgradeable for the average user.

Question 7

In the customer reviews, some mentioned that the original disk image is not included and in some cases, the OS wasn't even installed.  I could not find a solution on Samsung or SamsungParts websites.

How would someone get a Disk Image DVD or download?

If it doesn't ship with Windows 7 preinstalled with the key on the back then you should return it to Newegg and they'll take care of you with a replacement.  The only way you're going to get a disk image is to create one yourself and move it to a computer with a burner.  Microsoft does have Windows downloads on their website that you could get and then use the key on the back as well.  Mine came with the OS ready to install and configure.  As soon as I turned it on it began the install.
It does not come with any disks.

Question 8

Just received my Unit and after unpacking and powering up I get the message "An Operating system was't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
It's supposed to have XP Pro. Whats up?

Mine also did not come with an OS installed. You will have to return it due to it being a refurbished OS version. The return took about a month. The tablet that they replaced it with was in almost perfect condition. The Windows 7 install was fresh and I had to finish activating and installing the OS myself. After I completed all the Windows updates I was able to install Windows 10 for free!

What digitizer pen does this tablet use?

I've purchased and used both the Samsung Series 7 Slate PC Digitizer Pen Stylet (oem stylus pen for this unit) and the Samsung GALAXY NOTE S Pen with Eraser. Both work just fine as fine point "pens" excellent for activating small menus within File Explorer and write/draw with appropriate software installed (3rd party). Both models have "Eraser" modes which work with this Slate (buttons on pen tops) as well as a simple button on the side to activate the equivalent of right clicks of standard mouse. The GALAXY NOTE S pen is easier to find at less cost, but is slightly smaller and thinner then standard BIC type ink pens. The OEM Samsung Slate PC Pen is closer to a standard BIC type ink pen but more expensive and harder to find. Google Samsung Pen, Samsung S pen, or Samsung Slate Digitizer Pen to find sellers.
