How big of a SDHC chip will this model recognize?

I am not sure. The instructions says a SanDisk microSD or a microSDHC card. I have never tried either one.

Does this play Am and FM Radio  and on line music stations ?

FM music only, AM is a different type of broadcast, as for online music stations... you generally need a device that can go on line to listen to online music. If you mean things like podcasts that you have saved or exported to the device, then yes.

Can you lock the power button so it does not accidentally power on in your bag?

You cannot "lock it off." But I also believe it's not an issue. The power button is a tiny dit on the top edge positioned so that it's not given to being accidentally activated. I have many hundreds of hours using this, and I've never had that happen. It does have a lock button you use once running, so it  does not accidentally skip forward, pause, or shut off, which is very convenient.

Question 5

The system requirements stae Windows XP SP1. I have windows 7. Does this mean I will not be able to download songs from my system onto the player?

You should be able to, the player allows mp3 drag and drop. It's the easiest way to get on a device copy your music files to the music folder on the device. 
The requirements are the bare minimum in this case for the USB driver that will recognize your device to be installed you need at least XP, I've used windows 7, 8, and linux and it works fine...

yes, while listening to FM, hit the menu button on the bottom, go down to recording, select record now
