I see a headphone jack in the back.  Is there also a jack for ear bud type ear phones?

The headphone jack can be used by an ear bud, as long as it is the same size plug, which I believe is 3.5mm size plug (unable to find the size plug it accepts in the owners manual). When I first got the unit I remember trying my Sony ear bud with the CL-100, with no issues.

Question 2

I have had a Sangean CL-100 weather clock radio for about 3 years and all of the sudden the back light quit working!  The settings are at full brightness, full contrast and the full 90 seconds but I still can’t read the display unless I shine a bright flashlight on it.  Is there some way to fix this problem?

It's not easy, but it is technically possible to replace the bulb.  First you have to get a bulb, which is tricky.  It's easiest to by a broken unit of the internet and hope that the bulb on that one works then remove it.  Then it's a matter of taking your unit apart, replacing the bulb, and putting it back together.  You'll have to solder it in.

My recommendation is to get a new unit.
