SAPPHIRE TOXIC Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card, 100243-1GTXSR

Pros: So far I am very impressed with the speed of this card. I upgraded my HD 4870 512MB that I put in my son's computer, and I can certainly tell the extra memory helps this thing with AA at the 1920X1200 I play at. This overclocked version of the HD 4870 is neck and neck vs. the OC GTX 260 core 216s. The cooling on this Sapphire Toxic is quite good also as I've not seen the GPU hit 60C yet under load with fan at 50% which is bearable to the ears.

Cons: The price is a little steeper than the regular stock 1GB HD 4870. But considering you get an overclocked card as well as a custom, better than reference cooling heatsink, this might not be so bad afterall. You get what you pay for I guess.

Overall Review: You really can't go wrong with either a 1GB HD4870 or a GTX 260 Core 216 in this price range. I was going to get a GTX 260 but after my great experience with the HD 4870 512MB over the past 6 months I decided to stay with ATI.

Pros: Runs FarCry 2, Supreme Commander, Fallout 3, Eve Online very nicely at 1650x1080 on my 22inch LCD at 8xAA and 16xAF. Very nice copper pipes and cooling for the video card, even came with several game demo's, crossfire, component, RCA-SVIDEO, DVI-VGA and DVI-HDMI cables and connectors. Also came with the Advanced full version of 3dMark Vantage. Ordered it on Friday got it Tuesday afternoon, as usuall good job on newegg's behalf.

Cons: The card is big, about 9 1/2 to 10 inches in length, it may cover up your RAM slots or SATA ports so double check before buying. The fan can be loud when running past 70% in catalyst control center. By default the tempurature idles are high as the fan only kicks in when temp goes past 55-60Celcius so i changed the CCC profile to keep the fan at 30-40% and the card idles at 41Celcius and goes up to 52Celcius when under full load. The new catalyst 9.2 drivers have been causing issues with fan control speeds for users of the 4850 and 4870, i had to uninstall, reinstall and reset to defaults under CCC to re-enable manual fan control.

Overall Review: Make sure you have a good power supply with a decent +12V rail, this bad boy draws twice the wattage as my previous Radeon 3870 512MB version. Pros: - Vapor chamber. - Preoverclocked. - Relatively quiet cooling (still a long way to my Accelero S2 with 120mm Zalman fan).

Cons: - Expansive, given you can get HD4890 for <$200 AR (although, stock cooling) - !!! I received a USED CARD !!! (all the signs in order - scratches on the HSF from laying upside-down, dents in the backplate from screws, missing warning stickers, scratches on PCI-E connectors from previous installation. I notified NewEgg, we'll see what happens. Will update as soon as I get a reply.

Overall Review: The card overclocks to 830Mhz on GPU without increasing voltage. Memory produces artifacts after 10Mhz increase, which I think is by design. And I also think that's why the previous owner (!) returned it. Overclocking GDDR5 on HD4870 is useless, so I'm not concerned. Just wish I didn't have to pay retail price for a used product :(

Pros: I ran this card on 2 M/B's and found great improvement on the old system in graphics over my old 9600gt. Then I moved it to the new system and found all the games I play (WIC,Sins,Flatout UC,TF2) with settings all the way up and frame rates still in the 35-40 fps range

Cons: The card is tall due to heatpipes on the top. In my case the side panel has a 200mm fan and the heat pipes on the card contact the fan frame a bit, not enough to be a concern for me but a narrow case may be an issue.

Pros: to many to list

Cons: doesn't make me breakfast

Overall Review: I was going to get the normal SAPPHIRE 4870 1gb and i am soooooo glad i spent a little bit more and got this one the cooler is sick and looks beautiful oc from factory but you can push it crazy high on this cooler and come with 3d mark vantage full blown edition and every connector you could ever want for you video card so if your up in the air about what card to get make it this one and you won't regret it i promise you

Pros: This is a super fast graphics card, runs anything I throw at it. and hopefully newer games in the future. overall a super video card for a great price.

Cons: it was running hot even at idle (68*c) but I manually set the fan in CCC to 45% and now runs 46*c idle and around 70*c when playing crysis. Very large footprint. it should be advertised as a 3 slot card. not only is it taking the pci-x1 slot below it but the pci slot also. If you try and use it the pci card will block the fan, or just get a new heat sink for it. my side fan also helps keep the cpu,mem,vga card cooler also.

Pros: -FAST -Lots of extra software! -Cooling pipes are a nice feature -Runs everything you could want it to!

Cons: -A little big, make sure you have a nice case, like a Cooler Master. -Draws a lot of power, they say you want at least 600w -Runs hot

Overall Review: I am amazed by its performance, it plays BF2 maxed out with 100+ fps, L4D went out the roof, it killed FSX, this thing is amazing! You will want to run the fans at around 30%+ at all times, it runs hot. I put FSX on all max, bloom effects, all shadows, etc... And it ran fine, little hiccups are heavily trafficed areas, those being dense airports around a ocean with lots of sea traffic - hiccup being about 40fps :D AMD Phenom II 940 Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 OCZ Reaper HPC DDR1066 (4gb) Sapphire HD4870 1gb Toxic 700w Cooler Master Ultimate

Pros: This card freaking rocks the house. Any game i throw at it maintains a constant 60 fps maxed settings with no AA in 1440x900 in XPsp3 32.

Cons: big card, needs 2 power plugs. That's expected though

Overall Review: I'm running the E8400 3.0ghz, 4 gigs of ddr2 800 corsair xms2, 1 4870 toxic edition 1 gig, 320 gig Hitachi drive, nzxt air flow king case. nothing too special it's no I7 but i don't also have trillions of dollars. this card was a good replacement to my 2900 pro and it really works well. i like the special oc versions of cards.
